Command & Conquer 3 Officially Announced (PC)The latest addition to the C&C series is due in 2007.
By Li C. Kuo | April 20, 2006
We just got word that EALA is working on Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. According to today's press release, C&C 3 continues the story of the battle between the Brotherhood of NOD and the Global Defense Initiative. The game is set in the year 2047 and takes place during what's called the third Tiberium War. Planet Earth is in big trouble thanks to a continuing Tiberium infection that's spreading further than ever. While the GDI try to contain the alien substance, NOD wants to harness its power to take over the world.
EA says that the single-player campaign will reward gamers for their gameplay style. Some new features in C&C 3 include mobile bases, the ability to combine different units to customize your forces, native VoIP support in multiplayer modes, and multiple spectator modes. In the same announcement, EALA's Executive Producer Mike Verdu says, "We're building a next generation Command & Conquer game that is true to the spirit of this classic franchise."
We've always been big fans of the C&C series here, but Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun wasn't one of our favorites. Either way, we're definitely looking forward to seeing more details on this one. Chances are we'll get a bit more info at E3.
