Noone is safe from the RIAA... not even the DEAD!
« on: August 15, 2006, 09:15:25 AM »
This is just plain simple SICK. These ppl need LIHIXX, better yet Mephisto needs to visit their homes 1on1 and lecture them about tact, yuh hadda read to understand (see below). If te heading was misleading, well I gather from the article they gonna continue the case though the man pass on. As the saying goes: "and the sins of the father, etc, etc, etc" Athough i've been reading the Old testiment for some time now and it was said that a child shall NOT suffer for a parents crime AND vice versa.

RIAA chases dead man's children

But gives them a few days to grieve

By Nick Farrell: Monday 14 August 2006, 19:30

IN YET ANOTHER example of tenacity over public relations, the Recording Industry of America has decided to chase a dead man's kids for his acts of file-sharing.
The RIAA, in the case of Warner Bros. v. Scantlebury, was chasing Larry Scantlebury claiming that he had downloaded files illegally.

However, when the kind-hearted RIAA heard that Scantlebury had croaked, it asked the court for a 60-day adjournment to allow his children to get over it before they chased him through the courts again.

One of the interesting things about the Scantlebury case was that he accused the RIAA of, "telephoning him at his home, pretending to be 'settlement counsellors' offering bogus legal advice. µ

I guess they doh read the bible.

RIAA drops case against grieving family
By Justin Mann, TechSpot.com
Published: August 15, 2006, 4:06 PM EST

Sad but true, it seems that heartless organizations like the RIAA rather enjoy going after people with low income and demanding astronomical sums. Despite the numerous instances of “egg on the face” the RIAA has endured, and horrible mistakes they have made in many of their cases, they still relentlessly pursue their goal single-mindedly. Just recently, they dropped a case against a man who had passed away. Their reason?

Our hearts go out to the Scantleberry family for their loss. We had decided to temporarily suspend the productive settlement discussions we were having with the family. Mr. Scantleberry had admitted that the infringer was his stepson, and we were in the process settling with him shortly before his passing. Out of an abundance of sensitivity, we have elected to drop this particular case.

While this seems “sensitive” on the surface, the truth is that initially they were still suing the family after the man died, giving them “60 days” to grieve before they continued. Such compassion. Thanks to HardOCP for pointing this story out. It really goes to show how little concern the RIAA has for anything except money. At least they wised up before it was too late.

This is one time I'd condone some serious non-legal action against these idiots ..... man this is as bad as school boards behind this "Zero-tolerance" bs i hear about in american schools where kids getting expelled for ish like nail clippers!!

I decided to visit RIAA's website. Not surprsingly there is no reference to this particular case. An there is no contact info on the site, bar the webmaster... Otherwise I'd have certainly flamed them.

I am surprised no-one ent perform a DoS attack on the site or a mass boycott of the companies under RIAA... this is real Pubic (the mis-spelling was intentional) Relations @$$ness!!

Just conceived this:

New acronym for RIAA:

RUN! It's the Almighty A$$e$!

A reminder of the dumb ish these guys do on a regular basis under the guise of enforcing buying music legally.
God is dead.

Irony is that there are no bigger thieves than the RIAA themselves. The industry is run by money-grubbing, suited fatcats who are much less interested in the recording artists whose interests they claim to represent to the public than the ****ing obscene profits they make on record sales by exploitation. Good god! A share 10 cents per CD of music sold that an artist themselves sweat and gripe over to create? Who are the real theives in this equation? The bastards...
What can you do to end the hunger?
It's no surprise that many will die with the coming shortage of food
When there is no grain to feed the butchered cows
When there is nothing to feed yourselves...
Then you will see that money can't be eaten.
