Dat WIN dread, chakra for you!!! I am willing to be it has something to do with your eye's rods and cones ability to sustain the colour and B&W  information from the negative image so that when the B&W image is superimposed as such you see the combination rather than 1 or the other, however as soon as you move your eyes the combination is voided... something like that anyways.
