TSTT PrePaid Vs PostPaid
«

Just today, i was talkin to some peeps and wondering why pre paid customers get more benifits than post paid customers. There could be several conclusions but i've drawn 1. That is, that TSTT is just plain retarded. POST Paid, a monthly bill for cellular service yet i don't get call me requests, i get "free" air time but that just means i get what air time i pay monthly for, i get caller id to send (not forcefully) on my friend's phones, i have to enable an additional feature on my phone. ATM i cannot find the way to send it automatically on my Sony Erricson T230 (any help is appreciated) and is a constant extra hassle to do it for every no. i wanna send my id to. I cannot top up my account unless i pay my bill.....atleast i thought so till today i found out that the PRE PAID E-Cards that TSTT provides does allow you to top up your post paid account (tested this morning). Why do i pay the extra? when i could've baught a card either today tomorrow or NEXT YEAR!!!!
ok ok your probably thinking i pay less per minute with the post paid....but u know what, with all the hidden fees you have to eventually pay TSTT, on either going over the account's amount or by an accounting mistake on their end...you endup paying more..
THIS IS NOT A DIGICELL RANT, this is just to point out that the Post Paid service is total and utter sh1t, when compared to any ANY PRE PAID PLAN.
oo the voice mail fee...heard they levied that price of 20c and that it's free but how often do you miss a call if your phone's on u 24/7 OR u get a text instead and SEE the missed no.
I rest my case to go get more pissy about my tstt experience.
Edit: more to be added later

wanna hear a real horror story?
My ex used to call people on a sunday, for like 12 cents a minute or something like that.
Some package thing tstt had for their post paid customers
so two months ago, at the end of the month she get a bill for 2 grand
and both of us are like WTF was dat about.
So we go into tstt to ask them for a print out an ask them to querry the bill..
APARENTLY
TSTT WENT AND RAISE THE RATE BACK UP TO LIKE A DOLLAR A MINUTE WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE
so she was one de fone on a sunday for hours every weekend for 3 weeks and reall runn up de bill and tstt gave NOOOOO warning of the raise in fee.
And they tell her hard lucks they cah do nothing bout it.
So all de people who enjoyin de 1 c a minute story now
every few minutes yu may wanna hang up yuh fone an call tstt and ask them what the rate is at this very moment and what it will be for the next few minutes, cause dey coud flip de script on yu at ANY TIME and say pressha for u

I recently noticed that tstt no longer has after hours phone support. I dont know if that was only for a limited time or whatever the scene with that was, but u cant even call them to find out the rates on weekends.

but postpaid is good for emergencies... in the event that something happens, a prepaid phone runs out of money, no more calls, at least with a post paid phone you can talk until the battery runs out. no i have a post paid phone and i does talk on it like crazy, i have like 1000 roll over minutes. why do i need call me options.... i call people, why do i need to top up a account, i always pay my bill and hace roll over minutes, don't need to show my call id to any one, its a cell phone " a private personal phone".
prepaid is for those who need to manage their money, when you aint got no more money, you can't use the phone. post paid is for those who have the money to pay the bills... NO LIMIT. so neither is better, they are suited for the people who can afford either one.

hrm, well since u like to put it reasonably. Post paid, ur minutes do run out, for those who don't take the gold package...who have to do alot of calling, and then when ur out of minutes ur out of luck (No Emergency calling with no minutes left on ur account) but the topup with the ecard works, but then why have the post paid option in the first place if u don't get anything better than the pre paid. Yes everyone needs to watch their money, rich and poor.
I will agree with 1 point tho, that the post paid is a no hasstle given amount of minutes without having to top up, but then again this can be done using a prepaid phone with 100$ card/s and when u don't need it u save the extra cash, that u might need monthly.
Only option i see this Post paid for is for buisness users, it's almost like TSTT's residential and Buisness dsl packages...but i won't go into how much of a rip that is..

yeah, don't go on about tstt dsl... its really a rip off.. but what yuh go do, wait till cctt giving internet, we'll have a better alternative.
as tstt stants, everry thing that they offer is a rip off, cell service sucks, dsl too expensive and it always have a ketch or hidden fees to any package they give... all yuh need to do is experience them and then decide if to keep service or change. at least it have alternatives for cell service.
i join up with digicel and the price may be high, but the service for cells is great. crystal clear reception and i haven't had a drop call , network busy or call failed message as yet. i might be paying a lil more, but the service is worth it...
tstt sucks!

TSTT PrePaid vs. PostPaid is like the blind versus the visually impaired (or leading the visually impaired). I was thinking bout post paid a little while back so I went to TSTT bmobile site to check out the rates and this is my comparison:
Here is a snap at PostPaid side by side with PrePaid
Now let's see how this works shall we? Ok for avg joe the basic plan is where you'll look first, so we see post paid is 75$ for 100mins + 30 Free txt msgs so thats at best $97.50 on prepaid @ the $1.30 rate (Day time rate) + $9.00 in txt msgs so that's roughly $106.50 right? and that's if you don't check voice mail which is 20c. So for the heck of it, let's say the avg amt of times you have to check voicemail is about 30 times a month (or roughly 1 time a day) that's another $6.00 so a grand total of $112.50 and well you can't go over that so no overtime fees and you can always send a call me txt if all else fails.
Now that's worse case scenario in terms of ONLY talking during day time applied rates. Oh also note that I haven't taken into account the 50c a minute after the first 3 mins. So that should be as bad as you get from a PrePaid perspective. So for roughly $37.50 more (or roughly a 30$ card) I get the same package (minus being able to call over that save for emergency #s like 999 etc) as the PostPaid.
Now let's be more conservative with someone on PrePaid shall we?
First yuh know yuh on PrePaid so yuh time limited so to speak so yuh avoid too many calls in the day so let's say of 100mins you use half of that in the day (still NOT factoring in the 50c a min aftr 3 mins) so thats $65. Now the other 30mins of so is Night rates or 65c so thats $19.50 and lastly the remaining 20mins is weekends (although if you think about it this may NOT be correct and more call would be made on WEEKENDS) but say what so thats another 10$ so in calls alone that's $94.50 now the txt msgs lets keep the 30 so 9$ and the voicemail i'll even keep the same so another 6$. So the total this time is $106.50 So there is still a difference of $31.50 still almost a 30$ card.
Now let's be more conservative about this scenario
Yuh KNOW yuh on PREpaid so yuh keep day calls to minimum or do the call me back thing. So let's say yuh use 40mins @ day rates (at least 1 call a day AND then some) thats 52$. Yuh go actually use less and more txt saying call meh but I trying not to slant this too much. Voicemail yuh go keep to a MINIMUM so lets say yuh check bout 2 time a week + some so 10 times a month daz 2$. Now at night yuh have better rates so yuh call say even 30mins daz $19.50 the remaining 30mins is weekend so 15$ and lastly txt msgs, say bout 30 or 1 a day (this could vary, but it'd be more and calling would be less so I think this is fair) daz the same 9$ so in total daz wha? $82.50. So for $97.50 we get 100mins, 30 txt$ and 10 voicemail checks or 2$. So right here we see a 100$ card would be the sweet spot (or a 75$ card should it exist I not sure it still does).
Now lewwe be TRINI
Since the 100$ card is the reasonable amt we wil go with that so 100$ card is $114.50 or someting so.. cyah rem righ tnow... say 115$ but I get 120$ worth or time. I keep day calls even SHORTER so 35 calls (1 minute of course since we aiming at the rate not the length of an individual call but rather the total time per month) or roughly 1 a day at most (in reality sometimes yuh doh call at all for the day) so daz $45.50. Say bout the same in night calls so daz $22.75, then txt msgs we'll keep the 30 per month convention so 9$ and say the same as more conservative for voicemail so 2$. And that leaves us with 40mins on weekends to make up the 100 mins so 20$. Adding it all up we have $99.25 leaving roughly 20$ extra for the following month.so let's subtract it from the total, round it to 100 and minus the extra and you got 80$ a month for 100minutes + 30 txt + 10 voicemail seems fair to me.
Now to address bitablood which was the point of this post. I was considering TSTT PostPaid until I did this math roughly. PrePaid is not ONLY for ppl trying to manage money, it's for the majority since it's a pay as you go system allowing you to NOT pay more than you NEED to. In ANY company you try your best NOT to spend unecessarily cause that's your OVERHEAD and you allow X amt per month but too much overhead you lose profit so sure, its for ppl wanting to manage their money... like.... EVERYONE. Now take into account you paying 75$ a month GUARANTEED for at LEAST wha...1...2 yrs? what is TSTT binding you to lately? contractually that is? I have known ppl with prepaid phones who didn't call on it for MONTHS. Not cause they didn't have money to afford topping up OR a postpaid, but rather just because they didn't need to call ppl ALL de time. She woulda been paying AT LEAST 75$ a month for wha... 6 months she took to use up her 100$ onthe phone? daz $450... wow... thats alot. I hear what you're saying that PostPaid is more for business and such. THAT much is true, however it's human nature that IF I HAVE IT i'll USE IT, so if I paying 75$ a month for 100mins etc, I WILL use close to the limit B/C I CAN, not becuase I need to necessarily. I think the postpaid packages we have here doh make much sense compared to most other places AROUND THE WORLD. Other than ppl that NEED to be on call (read Dr., field eng and even these have pagers, or other such ppl) post paid is a waste of money ESPECIALLY TSTT PostPaid. I would like to think that most ppl can easily manage with a 50$ card or 70$ talk time per month on pre paid. After I checked how my spending on top up cards was per month vs what the PostPaid offered, it didn't make sense. I can use less than 75$ a month or more, but on avg about that or less. The real scene is to weigh how you spend vs what is available. Just like the Smart choice plans for Land lines which is ANTHER RIP off to a person with calling patterns that don't suite it AKA ANYONE WHO CALS CELLS FROM A LAND LINE. For MOST I think Post paid sucks, Digicel Postpaid was MUCH more attractive. It was something like wha... 85$ for 200mins or 150mins + fixed fee for land line and digicel calls etc. Someone fill in the blanks here. Daz my 2c feel free to add ppl.

i think W1nTry did a wonderful job for breaking it down. i went into tstt today (before 12) just to see if i could change the plan back over...it took over an hr for them to move from number 29- 33 and i was no. 43. Is there an easier way? or do i have to wait till the middle of the month when there's alot less ppl cashin bills and buyin new phones.
As a side note...i still have the problem with my phone displaying Caller Name Info or Caller ID automatically when i ring a number (as i made sure they activated it on their end). Altho, half the time they say (TSTT) they did something and it isn't implimented. This feature can be automatically activated on nokia phones as an option, but i can't seem to find that 1 option on my Sony Ericsson. (Yes i've tried the online manual as well as hours of internet searches). i'm convinced it's either a hidden setting option (like the old 6120's used to have) or TSTT still haven't placed that option back on
