Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (GRAW) impressions
« on: April 29, 2006, 01:46:59 AM »
I have downloaded and played the said demo, and I must say, its KICKIN MY AZZ!!!
There's a certain portion of the level that I simply cannot get through, no matter what
tactics I employ.

There's a big park midway through the level.  There is an automatic save point just
before you reach it.  Numerous men patrolling around, backed up by an entreched gun emplacement
that rips you to SHREDS whenever any attempt at peeking/movement is made.

Suggestions on tactics are welcome.

Try the demo.  Its rather promising, but there may be a problem with the graphics however.  Users with 7800 and 7900 Nvidia cards are complaining about frame rates.  One forum poster actually speculated that its a 'ploy to sell Aegia Phys-X cards', as the demo installation actually prompts you to install the Aegia drivers (for hardware that you dont have).  You can remove it after installation however, and it doent affect the operation of the game.

Well, its only a demo.  Hopefully the graphics issues will be fixed in the full release.

Full version works fine on my PC with a 256MB 7800GT...although, it only allows me to choose Medium for Texture size...but it still looks pretty damn good.

Got the full version, and was GREATLY impressed that it doesnt have all the graphics issues
that the demo had, but DAMN!!! It is still kickin my black azz.  ROYALLY!!!

Definitely the most difficult tactical shooter I've ever played.  As of today ah still ploddin thru the 1st
level.

Oh a word of warning.  1024 Mb (1 Gb) of system memory (RAM) is the MINIMUM requirement to play this game.
Anything less, and it might not even start.

PC upgrades indeed.
