Macbook Pro review

Anandtech has a nice article about the Macbook Pro
here
If you've never used a Mac, you've really missed out and for those that needed that little extra (ala running windows to play games) this may just be what you've been waiting for. I've been an old fan of apple a LONG time now (being the first computer I ever had) and maybe, JUST maybe one of these days soon (spell Merom) I will get one back... (actually not likely since I bought a Core duo recently... but maybe meh next lappy buy will be an Apple
)

Good article indeed by Anand himself. But OMGWTFOUCHTHATSMYLIVER at that MSRP. But still a MacBook for playing games? I don't think so. Any lappy as a matter of fact simply because its not easy/possible to upgrade a gpu not to mention the startup price of mobile gpu's. I much rather spend $$ on a gaming desktop, if nothing else, for easy upgradability. But I digress. Sounds real juicy to be able to run both Mac and Windows at the same time
AND
having them both perform satisfactorily at the
same time
. Interesting indeed as I have yet to get my hands wet with a Mac. I wont mind getting one of these when the Merom come into play...but look at the darn price!!!

Do you buy a Mercedes Benz S class to go rallying through the mud? Do you ride a bike off a cliff? Do you eat all the toothpaste in your mouth after you've brushed your teeth? Thus you don't buy a macbook because you're expecting stellar gaming performance, or as you put it a laptop on a whole. HOWEVER there are ppl that will disagree with you, seeing as there is even SLI for laptops. What you're paying for with a macbook is style, easy of use, OS X (which ROCKS btw), MOBILITY and it will still play all of today's games even if at much lower res than you're accustomed to. Try toating around ur GAMING RIG everywhere to say just stop by a cyber cafe to check email. I think your comments were misguided Dak. You're also paying for name, look at it this way, you COULD buy a Hyundai accent, but wouldn't you prefer say.. a almera?

Ok I see your point about the mobility advantages as well as the possibility of having desktop tech such as SLI on the notebook, but I am thinking about the situation in a more financial point of view. Personally...Personally i would not go and get SLI notebook with uber powerful gpu's just for the mobility. I much prefer to put that money into a desktop since that is where I would be doing most of my gaming. If i have to have a laptop (non mac), it should be just good enough to play fairly recent games @ medium settings and res. That concept of both mac and osx on one portable machine is interesting...but not at that price. I hoping that in the future, the price will drop considerably. Thats just me. Not withstanding the fact that the macbook is a very nice machine btw no argument there.

Well the Core Duo processors are set to drop in price at the end of May I think, so you can expect price drops then. I do agree that merom should be great and may be worth waiting.... if you can last without a lappy till say.... nov??? I couldn't so Yonah for it. But personally... I would SO buy a mac if I had the money... or heck if I knew then it could dual boot.... *Sigh* a bit late now however... ah well small thing. One more thing, reliability, I forgot to mention Macs are pretty reliable machines and the aluminium casing makes it more durable. So to add to the reasons to buy it: reliability and added physical protection.
