I've actually seen Vista system reqs.

AMD: Sempron CPUs and Up.  Those with Athlon XP/Duron/Athlon and lower need not apply.

Graphics: The minimum was the GeforceFX 5200.  THat was on the nVidia side.

The sysreqs somewhere on the Ms site.

altho one guy at osnews claims that his card ( which isnt on the list ) is running it with all the bells and whistles turn on.. http://www.osnews.com/comment.php?news_id=13113&offset=30&rows=45&threshold=-1

that said, somehow i seriously doubt my 32meg geforceGo will take it

I doubt that too disciple, 32mb cards look like tey'll get molested by Vista, this just goes to show, once again, that technology moving faster that the speed of light, but thanks to microsoft, and poor people we can still enjoy the luxuries of earlier windows, and not force ourselves into spending ah set of money on, newer and more efficient systems.

you said it there, man.. the general public is locked in a yearly buyin cycle, spurred on by hardware and software companies with effective marketing, and ever-inflating minimum system requirements.. even 64  meg cards will feel some  piggy from vista.. granted, we really have come a long way since XP was launched.. i mean.. 64 bit cpus.. dual core desktop processors..(even dual core laptop processors..yikes!),   SLI ( okay. sli is old tech, but it's back, and with a bang)..   man.. it have video cards out there with more ram than some people have in their entire systems...

luckily i have no need to use vista, however.. kubuntu does all i need right now.. ( and most experts , e.g. the gartner group) have recommended stayin off vista for another couple years; really, it brings nothing significantly  new to the table, especially since whatever security updates they have planned for vista, have or will be rolled into xp for some time to come.. even 2000, i had no serious problems with..

my total gaming needs consist of zsnes and visualboyadvance, ( both run on linux, and so does my sidewinder  ^_^), so the geforce2  in my notebook will rock on , till i get a job , or some kind soul donates me a new Thinkpad T60 or macbook (jizz)

but doesn't mean that i don't look fwd to it (vista)  tho..   or i doh like geeking out on new hardware..
on the contrary, i cah wait to see wha vista looks/feels like..  ( doh mind all the eyecandy they implementing in it is present in OSX RIGHT NOW )

sidenote..was browsin the other day, and bounce up a site tryin to buss a  WMF on me.. dred, i went into transports of Lolz.

in fact, i think this is the first exploit that there was no patch available immediately ( in recent memory;correct me if i am wrong, cuz i not 100% sure of tha )
2000 and XP, fully patched, before this incident, with a proper a/v and firewall solution, and browsing with firefox, were viable options..

which begs the question...   if vista really does deliver on all its promises(secure).. will people get off MS's back?
i doubt it.. but thas my 2 cents

The only thing i can see happening is that Xp is still going to be around for a good while, the only thing i can see ppl switching to Vista is if Technology prices are Dramatically lowered, but thats for another generation of products. People will eventually get off their backs only if there is something to keep them distracted.........Morgan WEEBBBBBB

lol @ morgan webb

nah but you're right..

you have many businesses still runnin NT and office 97, with no plans/needs to upgrade..some of them JUST switched over to 2000)

some banks still runnin OS/2  in ATMS ( that changing.... even tho OS/2 has been re-released as ecomstation and gets fairly regular updates )

with regards to the price of technology dramatically lowered, man we here already

10 yrs ago, a budget PC was one that cost around 1500US.. now, for 1500US u could build a pretty smokin system..

when yuh have dell an dem giyin way entry level pcs for 299 US after rebate.. i doubt it could be lower than tha..    but then again, you did say next generation..
who knows what 2016 the prices go be like..?

feel some  piggy from vista

OMFG!!!      ^_^  ^_^  ^_^    LOVFL!!!  (Laugh Out VERY F*CKIN LOUD)

Really, oh jeez, ah STILL laughin whenever allyuh read this post.

Disciple meh boy, thanks for that.  After the kinda day I've had, that was a 'bweath' of fresh air.

On topic:  Once them software companies make their software compatible with Vista AND XP (and probably even 2000) then I think we should be OK for another two years.  Despite its worries, XP is still my OS of choice for now.

LOL

no prob , arc!

nah but i guess the majority of vista apps *should* be able to run in XP and 2000.. cuz is not a total rewrite of the core code, or merging of two diff code bases ( like when u hade NT/2000 and 9X merge to XP)...
