Broadband over POWER

I'm sure this is an old topic, but bleh I too lazy to look. Now ppls I am sure some have heard that major power providers around the world are looking to implement broadband over power seeing as power infrustructure is most everywhere u have a PC. Since the infrustructure is already there is just a matter of figuring out how to get it to be secure and work well. Well I recently heard panasonic has patented a very effective way to do it, and now so has another company, have a read:

ELECTRIC outfit Matsushita has released a chip that will allow you to set up broadband connections using the power supply in your house.

The big idea is that instead of messing around with wireless connections, you can link using the wires that run the lecky

Apparently there are all sorts of products that are being developed to run the chip. And, theoretically, it will mean that some of these appliances can talk to each other, share data, and build philosophies on the meaning of life.

A network connected refrigerator may email you from the home computer to let you know that you are low on eggs.

Although the technology has been around for some time the Matsushita's system claims to deliver fast-speed broadband information at up to 170 megabits per second, which is faster than standard Ethernet.

   from what i read up on BPL its not much more promising than next generation  DSL or cable  ,  its range is shorter than ADSL ....    we'd be in the same situation with range again .
   What we need is WI - MAX! , 40mbits a second for 20km  omni directional  , so bush men can get high speed !
