dont u guys think dat in sum anime the funniest characters is the most powerful on d show we have 4 example Goku(Dragonball z),kenshi(Samuri x),Naruto and d list goes on and on.What u guys think?

Well there has to be a counter balance in the show. If they were all uber powerful, and had a serious face all the time, well, they wouldn't be all that liked.

Gatts aka guts from Sword of the Berserk. I don't think that guy ever smiled for the entire 26 episodes. Pressure right through.

Another boss, Hie from Yu Yu Hakusho. Very Vegeta like. All Attitude, no skinnin and grinnin.

Well I have never seen Yu Yu Hakusho, nor Berserk so I can't speak for those. But most times for characters like those, there is a "counter character". It really doesn't have much to do with the anime itself, but just to lighten the whole series. For example Vegeta, vegeta was one very bad @$$ character, but was constatly surrounded be stupidness, espically by his counter, Goku.

But it would be unfair to say that this exists in all anime, some anime its heavy mature stuff straight through. Take for example lain, I can't ever remeber laughing while watching that anime, yet I had to see the whole thing! It really depends on what type of anime.

Exactly, one of the first animes I can remember watching was vampire hunter D and he was a Serious mofo right through. I also like Basilisk, which though has an occasional funny type char is for the majority serious, what about ninja scrolls, 8 man after, cashan, etc. I think the majority of anime i've seen has been quite serious. Even though Rouroni Keshin was a cool sometimes very comedic series, look at the OVAs for it, that was serious heart wrench iymc, with the best lines and fights i've seen in some time. Anime to me is serious, I think that they use comedy to lighten the mood and to appeal to a wider fan base. But thats just me.

Yeah, YuYu Hakusho had it's fair share of mood lighteners. They actually came across pretty well too. Not overly cheesy and obnoxious. The characters, though jovial, still maintained a good grasp of the seriousness of the situation they were in. Expertly done.

Berserk on the other hand, every mc was bitter. No jokers in sight. Very driven, very sombre.

The manga had it's comic relief aspect but thankfully that was ripped from the anime. A da fairy named Puck.

Anti-Heroes are undeniably cool. Though that shouldn't take away from the old school stand bys like He Man, Goku and Liono from Thunder Cats. Goody Two Shoes iwmc. Equally bad ass but with hearts as large as their muscles.

Better role models for sure.

I agree, but I think Gatts smiled when he got with Caska - if memory serves me right
