atlon 64 gaming help

i just built a rig with an athlon64 processor,xfx 6200 pci express gpu,1 gig ram,compatable giga-byte mobo k8nf-9 and installed windowsxp pro {32 bit}with service pack 1.......the system is running sweetly.the only problem is that i cannot get any games to run on it.....for instance,doom 3 installs but it doesn't load  ..can someone lead me in the right direction on what to do.......

Tis might sound reallly retarded but do you have Direct X installed?Also get the latest drivers for the card.

get SP2 , it includes dx9 C etc.  , and the latest drivers for your graphics card from www.nvidia.com .

did those already.i dont no if its a compatibility thing between the athlon64 processor and the games itself or some patch or upgrade in need.thanks for he advice by the way.i'll download and reinstall those two thing tho.....any more suggestions?

i got through...i reinstall the os,dx9 and latest nvidia drivers and everything worked....thanks

 make sure not to delete your 32 bit installation of windows , Windows 64  still has alot of bugs in it .
