Ah, yes. Good old Error Guard.
And by 'good', I mean, 'good for nothing', of course.
I remember when I got caught in this scam, myself.
Fortunately, I managed to oust it from my computer before it did any serious damage (lucky me, eh?)
Well, if it would be any help, I could post some links here that would help get rid of most spyware/adware/malware that are proving to be quite a pain these days.
First of all, more than anything, a computer logged on to the Internet SHOULD have both Ad-Aware and Microsoft Anti-Spyware installed, to detect and remove adware and spyware from the computer. A while ago, I would have even recommended Spybot-Search and Destroy, but, in recent times, they have stopped updating the program, so I don't bother with it again.

When these two programs are installed, do a thorough scan with these programs SEPARATELY (as they will identify each other as threats), and, usually, once the scan is over and the threats have been identified, you can delete the threats or quarantine them.
These two links that I'm going to post next have helped me a LOT, and you guys should consider it as well. It involves the installation of a program called 'HijackTHIS!' and, despite the name, is a VERY good program. What it does it identify all of the background processes currently taking place in your computer. However, it should be noted that it does NOT distinguish between the good processes and the bad, so what should be done is to take the log of the scan to a reputable website forum, post it up in a thread, and carry out the instructions of the many experienced professionals that would be able to help you.
