you in a dos window, or you usin 95 or 98 ,one of them where yu could boot into dos?

if you usin xp and wanna access files in "dos"
you can open de command screen and open programs that are in the system folder.
if yu right click on a program and go to properties, the file name would include the shortname that you would use to open it from a cmd prompt.

like opening calculator
is calc
the mmc is mmc.exe
so on and so forth

for real dos
ask one of them ole men yes

well you need some extra programs to run for DOS, because u need to have TCP/IP software active...so you may have to use FTP commands, using old-school Telnet communication....kinda goin like old forms of Internet access....or maybe I could be talking crap :P :P

Like this in command prompt:

net use F: \\NETBOIS\homes /USER:username
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
// Could use ip like \\10.10.0.1\directory as long as tcp/ip over netbios enable.  Type "net help use" for the rest of parameteur(argument)
]]]]]
To check what shares are mounted:
net use
]]]]]
To unmount the share:
net use F: /delete
]]]]]
Accessing:
Type F:
then dir, have fun :P

wat  Nitrate said there is true

but the PC they are accessing must have enabled "File and Printer Sharing"

you can always chech to see if its enabled by using the cmd line :

c:\windows]nbtstat -a ipaddress

you should get sumting like :

Name Type Status
---------------------------------------
user [00] UNIQUE Registered
workgroup [00] GROUP Registered
user [03] UNIQUE Registered
user [20] UNIQUE Registered

The number [20] shows  that the user has enabled File and Printer Sharing
