After a good while cooking in my system i have pushed my athlon XP-M to its limits : 2.5GHZ . I run it at 2.2/2.3 ghz normally . Considering that the chip only cost me 75USD, and it is running faster than a 180US athlon xp 3200, this was a GREAT deal! . I recommend it to anyone thinking of upgrading with Socket A . All you need is a motherboard with basic overlocking features and you are ready to go! the WORST chip among this will AT LEAST reach 2.2GHZ [XP3200] .
No uber cooling system is needed : i am using an ALUMINIUM HEAT SINK on mine but if you DO get uber cooling, you will be able to run it at max clock for years . No training is needed to overclock

your motherboards manual usually tells you what to do .

benchmarks : 3900 PCmark 2004@ 2.4ghz. 3600@2.2ghz , the video card is holding it back here, but the CPU benchmarks beat outs an A643200 . Would do like 4500 with a 9800 pro.

Super Pi : 43 seconds @ 2.5GHZ .

i disagree with the "best budget chip" line

but at 75 dollars yu are makin a nice case for yur self

one more thing
i figure that super pi thing have some lil tweek to make amd look good

my p4 only hit 51 seconds for de 1 million
i find that uber strange

2.5GHZ athlonXP = 3.4 GHZ pentium/ A64 3400 . , no tweak... just pure CPU power. The currant world record in super pi is held by a Pentium @ 4.6GHZ , 29 seconds to 1 million i believe.

umm that ain't the world record for it that only for personal computers. the computer that it was based off of did super pi 1 million digits in 4 seconds

Super pi scores are best after a restart , and after closing all unecessary backround programs, doing so dropped 3 seconds on mine.

I trying this super pi on meh laptop

26 seconds @ 512k super pi and that is only a pentium m 1700
a weak proc

what setting alyuh usin? 32mb?

1meg , the Pentium Ms are actually just as fast as the full P4 , a 1.8 M matching a 2.5/2.6 P4

i just got my athlon 64 3000 ....havent gotte nall the parts yet so i cant complete (miami not shipping out camp parts until after hurricane)...and trini when you get 43 sec what was it on 1M?

all scores i reported are @ 1 mill , your A64 will probably do like 38 secs to 1 mill

just load up my athlon 64 3000 (about half an hour ago)...i got 42 sec in super pi

as we can see.... this 75 dollar chip is 99% of an athlon 64 twice the price! it will BEAT most A64s in some tests that do not require use of SSE2 or lots of mem bandwidth .
