lol
rommel, the man does read what he want and answer so as to promote his view, nevermind whatever point you were trying to make. That is his way.
lemme try and engage you in a more profitable discourse.
A group of people, the rich, religion etc....has all rights to discard things they consider wrong for the society they live in and that is precisely what has been done historically. A few thoughtful, proactive people can change the world.
Same Sex Rectal Probing is still considered wrong by the wider audience of people in this country. Of this I am certain. Trinidad is still a society where such things are frowned upon. On this basis alone we will never see such programming on the local airwaves.
We won't stomach our kids coming across a gay channel on TV7, with two guys giving each other head while looking for sesame street or batman beyond.
Cable is a different story because it is precisely a window into the programming of America.
Unfortunately that means a whole new can of worms is opened up. They are far more risque than we are in what is acceptable programming. Pushing the envelope. Attempting all sorts of shock TV for ratings and to access new markets.
CCTT, being the monopoly on cable tv access on the island, are the last bastion in deciding what is our window to America programming.
Chances are they won't try it in the first place but If they do decide to bring this channel down, a bit of protesting and lobbying against them in the local press and media should get them to reverse the decision in double time.
As for the influence of this on the local society should it be pulled off. One only has to look @ the medias current influence on the youth.
Ever heard the phrase: "Don't try this at home kids" ?
It's used for a reason. Kids (and grown ups to a slightly lesser extent) are influenced by media and try to mimmic what they see on the screen. Just as my son runs around throwin imaginary kamehameha's and fireballs from watching too much dragon ball z. Offloading a series of martial arts moves on his mom. Easily influenced idmc.
I much rather that than him trying to recreate any "alternative lifestyle" sexual act he came across on gaytv, compliments cctt.
