Wanna buy a high end UPS ASAP!!!!
« on: March 16, 2012, 10:02:51 PM »
Does anyone know where sells high end models locally? By high end, I mean one that could keep my crossfire gaming rig, a Z-5500 and an 8 hard drive server running when T&TEC starts playin up. My current one just dead on me. Not looking to simply replace the battery as I believe the unit was faulty to begin with.

I had gotten a tripp-lite from Pricesmart, it's 1000VA and handles my right and the Z5500 I have here quite nicely.

Think it was for around $900TT when I bought it about a yr ago not sure what they have them for now...

This is the exact one I have http://www.tripplite.com/en/products/model.cfm?txtModelID=3071 and it has won many a battle with T&TEC with me not really worrying about anything getting damaged. It has proven itself being truly hardcore from low voltage to blackouts (car crash into lamp post taking down lines, frog somewhere out the road cause two lines to arc) etc...

Oh yea and you can put it vertical or horizontal as the lcd screen can be popped out and rotated to suit. Pretty sweet design esp when you don't have much space for a hulking UPS to be on the floor. Mine sits on the sub for the z5500s vertically with plenty more space to rest stuff about...

Mind giving us an example of some of those prices Rage?

I bought my current APC 1500VA from them a few years ago, and it was WAY cheaper than having to import it.

i believe the guy i talked to said that a 1000VA was around $1400 + VAT while a 1500VA was around $1600. they have up 3000VA (or 2000, can't remember) i believe but i didn't even bother asking how much.

Actually, Rage, that price for a 1500VA (APC, I hope) isn't that bad.  I paid $1548 TT for mine at the time.

I say bite the bullet and buy it yes.  You really need it.  At least you will get a year warranty on it.

Which model did you finally get?  That's a nice price, considering what you would pay to import one.

...and I'm sure you have a decent warranty as well. GG

My bad, I forgot to mention the model I got from The Wizz was a BR1500G

Using it for PS3/LCD TV (40")

With both devices on, it shows about 50% load on UPS and ~15 minutes runtime at that load.
