21 gigs over here.

If my drive were to fail in the morning, you bet i'd go SSD for my next purchase...

BUT that ssd will have to be of a certain calibre as I want one for the long haul. As such, i'd look towards one along these lines that ticks most of the future proof checkboxes.

Sata 3...Check

Comfortable amt of storage that allows me to retain the comfort level in terms of space that i now enjoy...check

Although i'd spend that much on a combo of video cards, pelting out close to $500us on one ssd is a hard pill to swallow atm.

Given that my current mechanical drive is no slouch (will load up a bf3 map a few seconds after you do) but once we're in game, the effect of my video cards are going to be a lot more potent than that of a ssd.

Like i said, based on my criteria, im not saying no, just not now. At those prices, my drive hadda fail, leaving me no choice.

...and after over a year of slackness to update this tread, we have June 2012 updates:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-benchmark-review,3237.html

512GB Crucial SSD for US$400
90GB SSD for US$90
Mushkin 120GB for under US$120

As you can see, SSD drives now more or less costing US$1 per GB
God is dead.

Good lord...I completely forgot about this thread.

...and just this morning, Amazon reminded me just how cheap them Crucial m4 drives have become.

Its a 2.5 drive but comes in an 'ice block' which upconverts it to 3.5.

And no, its not detachable.

Actually, they are.

I took that very 'ice-block' and put my Corsair Force 3 in it.  :)

Now that is some good news.

Can't wait for the 512gb to get down to around US$150 - 200
