Exactly. Granted it was a small chance but I was really hoping against hope that they would drop some next gen hardware on us.

This cycle is getting long in the tooth.

At least on the PC side, new cutting edge hardware is being released all the time. So like Messiaah said, at least we may see some leaps and bounds in gaming fidelity on that platform while Microsoft and Sony take their time with the aging consoles.

Watched the Microsoft conference finally...

About the only thing that impressed me was the Splinter Cell: Blacklist gameplay,
and that game is multi-platform, so whatever.  Whichever platform has better DLC (and by 'better' I also mean value) I'll just get thatone.
That I'm buying it is a given.  Tom Clancy/Ubisoft done get mih money. 

I'm not a Halo fan, but I will admit, that Halo 4 looks great.  I'll borrow W1nTry copy when he done with it.  I know he buying it for sure. 
Surprisingly, I'm not that impressed by 'SmartGlass'.  Do I really need to be that involved while watching a movie?  Short answer: no.  Pass.

Not sure what to make of that Forza...

...and what can I say about Call Of Duty that hasn't already been said about Afghanistan...

.....but as consumers, are we really that ready for next-gen already?

It might be just me...but I'm certainly OK with current gen.  There's so much stuff I still have to play/finish
it ain't even funny.  Not really in a hurry to jump out for new console hardware just yet.

I most certainly am. There are many games I've still yet to play but thats just because I have less time than their are games. Yes I have my pc but because developers are so console focused now we have a lot of pc ports now that dont take full advantage of the pc platform.

The PS3 came out is September 2006. The PS3 came out six years after the PS2 and the PS2 came out five years after the PSX.

I really really hope next gen systems can start coming out at least next year.

Glad we're not alone boy Eroo, lol.

Arc....consider this....when new consoles arrive, they will be commanding top dollar. Will take a couple years for the price to fall to more reasonable levels.

So you may not be ready to jump ship right now in 2012....but by time you are..say in 2014...they should be out for a while and selling for $299 instead of $499.

In a perfect world, we would have gotten solid announcements on the PS4 / XBOX 720 in E3 2012.

See hardware hit the market late 2013.

Now we have to wait to possibly hear news in E3 2013 with possibility of them hitting the market in 2014.

You've got a good three to six years to catch up on those old PS3 titles you've been lapsing on as is.
