[Red Paradox]

I looking all over for this thread to comment on. I shocked no one put up a thread or even made mention of the movie. I used the search feature on the site and didn't see it.
This film however is a must see. VERY sharp performances all around, a nice emotional story and BRUTAL MMA fight sequences
I'm even surprised Wyatt didn't put up this thread. If someone did put this up forgive meh.
I am hoping you guys ( and GATT ladies) take a look at a possible cool Oscar movie

Is this a perfect film? No, no it is not.

Is this the best MMA film ever created? Most certainly, yes....a hundred times yes.

I'll rate this a firm 9 Flying Arm Bars out of 10

The film pays homage to the UFC and the mma fraternity as a whole. Giving a special nod to "the mask". The deceased creator of the Tap Out brand of clothing and one of the sports biggest supporters.



It throws in a few cameos from some of the big names out there as opposed to having them star. Not a bad move, given the B movie quality of the last few films I saw where MMA fighters were used as lead actors. The Hector Echavarria directed ones like these:








Now don't get me wrong, as raw as they maybe, I did enjoy these mma movies but that's as a fan of the fighters and absolutely nothing to do with Hector's directing skills. Ratings on the films' themselves were absolutely atrocious. Combining the score of all three will still come up short of "Warriors" impressive 8.3/10

For an action flick, I'd almost say, unprecedented.

But that's just the thing. Warrior isn't an MMA or Action movie in the true sense of the word.

This 2 hour + marathon of a film is as much about drama as it is about fighting.

They pull out every emotional plot vehicle you could find. A scatter shot at your heart strings.

Something was bound to resonate with the audience and so it did (as the reviews reflect)

Abusive parent: check
Loss of a parent: check
Sibling rivalry: check
Struggles with Addiction: check
Patriotism: check
Maladjusted War Vet: check
Financial Troubles/Mortgage Foreclosure: check
Overthehill Underdog trying to make a comeback: check
etc....etc....

You name it, this movie had it and then some.....all wrapped around the world of MMA.

They even re-created the Fedor hype with an undefeated Russian fighter making his way into the USA event for the first time.

I am not complaining....this is a must see movie for a UFC fan.

If you need to show someone one film to explain the hype around MMA, this is it.

It would have been better if they had let Tommy fight and defeat the russian but take a critical injury, so he would have had a credible reasoning for losing to his brother in the finals. That would have earned a 10/10 for me
