i have real video encodin to do :x and them P4s real good at video encodin, i wonder when AMD will catch up, come on AMD i need good mutlimedia performance too!!!!!!
i have a 2600xp and encodin is takin 3 hrs, that is real time

the 'EXTREME EDITION" P4 has alot more transistors.. the core is more than 200mm square rather than 140mmsquare, it has a more 'extreme' version of hyper threading etc.... it processes more stuff per clock than a normal P4.

It should easily be ably to clock to 4ghz on air once it goes on to the new PGA 775 socket and 64 bit prescott/A64 cores.

p4 EE has 176 million transistors most of which make up the L3 2 mb cache as for more extreme version of hyper threading it doesn't have any . It is bascially a xeon clocked at highest p4 speeds . For encoding u should try a dual cpu setup

as coldstorm said, the extreme edition is a xeon re-labelled.
dual cpu would help, but of course the real thing is to get a cluster of computers doing an encoding farm.
that said,
just wait it out. 3 hrs isnt that long.

Dread what happen to strongton dread, yuh want video encoding, its called a render farm maybe you should invest in a dual, quad or even 8-way mutltiprocessing system, 4 top of the line apples should do the trick

if not well dread I sure yuh doh be home enough to complain about 3 hrs cause I SURE yuh does set it and leave... as for the P4 EE endocing on the new precott cores are substantially faster... however why would I want to fry an egg in my case??
