Tatsunoko vs. Capcom now officially scheduled for an American release

The latest in Capcom’s beloved Versus series of fighting games, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, is now officially scheduled for an American release, according to Capcom’s Unity blog.

The game pits Capcom fighting standards such as Mega Man, Street Fighter’s Ryu, and Viewtiful Joe against characters created by Japan’s Tatsunoko animation studio. You may know them as the people who brought you Yatterman and Golden Warrior Gold Lightan.

Capcom has not said whether issues related to acquiring the rights to use the Tatsunoko characters in a North American release would cause them to drop any of the cast seen in the Japanese version of the game, but the publisher has promised an official announcement soon that should clear up any lingering questions.

The new roster addition comes in from the Tatsunoko side: Tekkaman Blade from the Tekkaman Blade series. While most of the Tatsunoko characters may not be familiar to many stateside players, Tekkaman Blade might be familiar because the anime series made it to the US under the name Teknoman on UPN Kids. In Japan, the series aired in the 1990s and was a reboot of Tekkaman: The Space Knight. In Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Tekkaman Blade will fight alongside his predecessor.

Yes. I've heard the online runs like a dream, though.



New Mega Man character to test out? Yes.
Roll can now combo into launcher AND Healing is now safe after an uncharged Swing? YES.
Karas is not the cheap ass he once was? VERY YES.
