Woodyear, we certainly not disputing the fact that this will sell like hot cross buns eh.  What has some of us miffed
is all the media hype that is always (mis)directed at Steve Jobs whenever he debuts a new Apple device that is
somehow always lacking in some basic functionality that you would expect, for the prices that Apple is willing to charge.

I am glad that some people are willing to remove their lips from around Stevie's 'hard n veiny' long enough to say that
this device fails.  Hard.

I await Asus and the rest to show us what a 'proper', functional internet/media slate device should look/operate like.

They certainly have their fans eh. Look at that article, man buying any new Apple product regardless of reviews since "apple knows what I need before I do" lol. I guess with that kind of brand strength yuh could sell an iToaster and people would flock to buy it.
It will be interesting to see what innovative, low cost tablets are released in future though they will not be in direct competition with Apple's target market. No wonder Apple wil never release a sub $500 tablet, they always differentiate themselves with that and people do buy in.

well as many reviewers pointed out, apple is late to the slate parade but of course gets more attention than everyone else on the matter.

Gizmodo has had a great round up of the slates for a while now
the hp and some others look awesome, including lenovo's amazing idea.

With regards to the flash its a political issue of Apple wanting to keep flash out.
With flash there's flash games and sites like Hulu for free tv shows etc which will no doubt hurt the iTunes business.
Not a software issue and definitely not a hardware one. Apple could add flash if they wanted to easily, and adobe has wanted to do this for a long time but blocked from doing so.

But in all seriousness a device helmed as the best way to browse the internet and lacks flash is very lame.
I like all the other features but I just cringe at the lack of flash support.

asus will sink this iPain i have a feeling asus coming out with a eeePad soon for 299 with a custom build of android. i dont know why palm doh  make a giant TX and put web os on it  at least it would be better than  this ipod XL imagine even the king of the pay for minor upgrade model Nintendo had tthe decency to call their new giant handheld just that a dsiXL and not a revolutonary innovation of a long awaited form factor
