GI Joe? I didn't see that movie.
If you meant "GI BLOW" with Channing Tatum or "GI NO" with Marlon Wayans then yeah, I saw those.
The only
GI Joe
movie I ever saw was animated.

Funny u mention Jet-Li as he was supposed to play Kato back in 97 along with Clooney as Britt Reid. As I said I only watched the tv series on cable a week before I saw this movie but I understand the frustrations older fans would have. Part of me kinda wished it was more straight faced like the series as I enjoyed it so much (surprisingly). The main problem tho IMO was Rogen's portrayal, maybe it would've worked better had Stephen chow stayed on to direct. If there ever is a sequel Rogen would def have to make a better attempt at being more serious since it's sensible his character would mature a little.

From the time I saw Seth Rogen, I knew
not
to expect a hardcore Green hornet.

Thats what I said back when the first trailer came out but the movie itself is pretty hardcore. Almost could've been rated R. There would be comedic scene then boom ppl die hardcore style. Thats what I meant by weird shift in tone, comedic/ dark and serious. Well I enjoyed it, to each his own.

So I saw this today. I'm not a fan of Green Hornet, as I did not see the show growing up, or read any of the comics.
So my review is mainly for non-hornet fan folks who just want to know if the movie is worth watching.
As I stated in the first post of this thread, I was only interested in seeing this for 2 reasons:
1) Michel Gondry is the director
2) Christoph Waltz is the villain
I consider these two people to be brilliant, which is why I found this movie to be disappointing.
What was wrong:
- This is by far Gondry's weakest movie. It's not bad, but not great either. It's just...aite. I blame the script though. So many weak moments and lines. There were some times when the chemistry between Rogen and Chou was cool, but those times were too few.
- Christoph Waltz was wasted. If you've seen Inglorious Basterds then you know how wicked awesome this guy is. Here he's just generic villain #27. Again, the script is to blame.
Overall I think this is just an okay movie for breezing out after work. There's some cool action scenes. Nothing memorable though. If you don't see it you're not missing much.

...and you're NOT a GH fan. Interesting.
Imagine for a second if you WERE...yeah, suddenly it seems a lot more disappointing, right?

Actually not looking as bad as ppl thought it would be. I'm still hesitant bcuz of
Seth Rogen
tho
I still think this was the main problem. Nothing against him but Jensen Ackles would've been better. Still at least the action scenes were cool.
But anyway its seems to be doing what they intended. Providing decent entertainment to the general public since it's atop the Box office. Kinda sucks in a way since ppl won't know the true Green Hornet.
