I think the two strongest contenders for best pic are Avatar and Hurt Locker. Both won already at big award ceremonies, Avatar @ the globes and Hurt Locker @ the PGA and DGA. Gonna be interesting cuz it's Cameron vs his ex lol.

Both movies were good though and had it shares of strengths in my opinion...
example, while avatar dominated in story,visuals and sound...Hurt Locker had tension, great cinematography and some seriously gritty film editing....
Maybe there's hope in the Academy Awards lol

I think Star Trek should get best sound and sound effects
The list for visuals is a hard one though...Avatar had nice visuals and colors....the worlds looked really lush..
but Star Trek had a "super" Star Wars look
and District 9 had a Halo look

I dunno visual effects have reached a new heights.... surprised Transformers didn't make the cut for visuals...but I disliked that trash so who cares

Yup, he can't hear em cause the money is just falling out his ears XD... that aside I thought the awards was boring, bland and just like last year I wonder who the 600 or however many academy members are cause their choices are SO questionable, well guess I gotta watch hurt locker to see what all the fuss is about. Honestly i've lost most/all faith in oscars and grammys cause I think in particular NOW, they just run with whatevers is the flavour of the day.

I've been telling people since last summer to watch the blasted movie and it won!
WA HOO!
The Hurt Locker is a kickass film with the best camera work EVA (well since Bourne Ultimatum lol)
and very suspenseful atmosphere!

I also loved Hurt Locker. One of those suspenseful edge of your seat movies where you can't tell what going to happen but either hope it does or doesn't.
I was more or less in the Hurt Locker camp ftw. But either avatar or that was fine with me for best picture.
