PSP internet connectivity and what TSTT Wimax means for it
« on: November 24, 2009, 12:29:35 PM »
Now I don't have a PSP so you might call me chuppid for asking this. But I'm just curious: does PSP wireless internet connectivity work here in Trinidad by any means? And will Wimax (4G internet announced by TSTT for fall-back coverage for CHOGM) affect this positively? What does this mean for other devices like the Amazon Kindle? Thanks.

the psp doesnt have built-in internet. It has a wireless card that will allow it to connect to wifi.
So everything else you mentioned is moot for the psp

Neither of those devices can access a Wiimax network, I think Wiimax technology requires special modems/base stations and operates under 802.16 specification.

PSP only has a regular 802.11 antenna for accessing regular wireless routers, nothing for Wiimax technology.

Same goes for the Kindle, it can only access 3G and Edge/GPRS networks.

So no they won't be able to access a Wiimax network, but to add to what Crixx said wireless routers are pretty cheap these days so you could get your high speed net shared in your home wirelessly. If you are talking about having true portability from your PSP to play online while on the go, I don't think there is anything available locally, Blink On The Go......bleh.

once again, so there is no confusion.
the psp can ONLYYY connect to wifi networks using 802.11
No form of mobile internet works on that specification so you cannot get mobile net as such on your psp.
Yu can go to any location with open wifi and mooch and thats the closest you will get to mobile net on teh psp.

Unless if your being ridiculous and say take a netbook, connect a blink on the go usb device to the netbook
then connect a mini usb access point device to your netbook or lappy and share your innernets that way...
but of course... thats going so far overboard just to get innertnets on the go on your psp..

like if you buy a netbook or laptop just for that purpose.. imma have to slap you and hold yu upside down and shake out your milk money and give it to some poor people.

Lol yeah that was the solution I was hinting at with the "Blink On The Go" but it would be so pointless, ah didn't even wanna explain that. If you are l33t though yuh could skip the mini usb and create an AP via the built in netbook wifi antennae :p.
