Toture in Games

This man made an excellent post about torture in video games and the media in general. They never really show consequences of torture on TV and games would be a great medium to show this.

To play World of Warcraft now, you've got to be a torturer.

In the recent expansion pack Wrath of the Lich King, there's a quest called "The Art of Persuasion" that requires you to extract information from a tied-up sorcerer. You do this by stinging him repeatedly with a creepy instrument called the "Neural Needler," a device that "inflicts incredible pain to target, but does no lasting damage." After a few minutes, the sorcerer coughs up the info.

As you'd imagine, this little slice of Abu Ghraib set......

You entire Death Knight quest chain until you join Horde/Alliance is torturing people or being tortured. You go into town and torture and kill innocent farmers and civilians begging for their life. You practice your new Runeforging on failed Death Knights who are tortured and chained in Ebon Hold. You torture sorcerers to get information, you torture AND kill a fellow friend you grew up with to show your allegiance to the Lich King, you get some GOOD WOOD when you attack Lights Hope at the end of your quest chain, get betrayed by Arthas and feel some holy light in yuh @ss from the leet paladin, you get spat on, rotten fruit pwned and many other things as you walk into the city to ally yourself with the Alliance/Horde.

Oh and need i forget. The torture scene in Metal Gear Solid and the torture of watching Naked Raiden in MGS2.
