I think the series has gone on way too long already. The whole 'duelists on bikes' thing just doesn't appeal to me at all, and the main character looks like a surly punk compared to Jaden and Yugi. A while ago, the show used to give me the sense that there was, you know, an appealing storyline behind the game, and that's one of the reasons why I played.
Now? It exists merely to sell cards. The story doesn't even have to make sense anymore, once it's showcasing the newest cards. Ugh.
And what is up with that title? Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's? I know it stands for 'Five Dragons', but how in the hell does it even make sense? Doesn't even roll off your tongue when you say it. I can dig Yu-Gi-Oh GX, because even from the name, you had a sense that it was 'Generation Next', but...5 Dees? God. That's just......stupid.
You'd have to forgive me for being so crabby towards the series, but it's one of the reasons I semi-retired from the game. I don't like the premise, I don't like the characters, I don't like the crappy title, and I really, really hate the 'To sell toys' mantra of it overall. In its defense, though, it might be a blast of a show to watch (I haven't watched it at all), but, meh. First impressions are lasting for me, and 5Ds comes off pretty lousy.
