Father jailed after daughter fails to get diploma

CINCINNATI - A man ordered by a judge to make sure his daughter studied has found himself in jail because she failed to earn a high school equivalency diploma.

Brian Gegner, who lives near Cincinnati, was sentenced last week to 180 days in jail for contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a minor.

He was ordered months ago to make sure his 18-year-old daughter Brittany Gegner, who has a history of truancy, received the diploma known as GED — something that hasn't happened yet.

Basically, he got arrested because his daughter was too stupid.
And it's making me laugh my behind off right now.

Keep in mind that the media often omits certain facts, like perhaps the father was an instigator of her ridiculous behaviour. Maybe he used to pick her up or take her out of school to go drink. We don't know all the facts. At face value it sounds RIDICULOUS, but it could have been warranted.... O_o

Wow. Well, if that's the case, maybe he does deserve what he gets for setting such a bad example.

However, I'm a firm believer that every person is responsible for his/her own destiny, so the daughter? Should've known better. To quote an example, pick up 'Matilda' by Roland Dahl. Completely a**holish parents that do nothing but lie, scam and swindle, and yet, the daughter turns out to be a genuine person who's honest, smart and works hard for what she wants.
