it's funny to hear people saying they want to upgrade their TV from let's say a 27 inch to 42 inch HD when they still have the same size living room as before

Well, I started my Xbox 360 journey on a 27" normal TV and found that I could not read any of the car descriptions for Project Gotham Racing 3 without squinting a lot. When I got my 37" HDTV, I could read them clear as day. The same goes for any other game with lots of text (Oblivion for example). That is what happens when developers make games specifically for HD. So a jump to HD for someone with a 360 or PS3 is actually a good move, IMHO, even if the size difference is not that big.

I agree 100% Viv. BTW, we never see you online for sweats and stuff, what's up with that Viv??

As for the insult directed to wii graphics, no not garbage, no dont compare with ps2 or the rest... and PLAY IT ON 480p WITH THE COMPONENT CABLE, there's a small change, but better than 480i

Its fine to compair PS2 to the Wii graphics they look the same and also there are games on PS2 that support 480p like God Of War 2, Gran Turismo 4, Resident Evil 4, Soul Calibur III to name a few, and whats the icing on the cake... put thoses PS2 games in a PS3 and they get upscaled and Antialiased making them look better than what a Wii can do. If you don't believe me there's a list of them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HD_Enhanced_PS2_games

Something needs to be cleared up as well Wii graphics do SUCK....  The Artistic style is fantastic i will certainly agree there but its a waist of time compair it to a Xbox360 or PS3. 480i and 480p makes no difference graphically, the "i" in 480i means "interlaced" and the "p" in 480p means "progressive scan" in layman terms 480i gives you 30 frames per second and 480p gives you 60 frames per second. It will run smoother for quick movements NOT making it look graphically superior.

I will buy the component cable for the Wii as you advised and will see if i notice a differnce. If i do not....i commin back to FLAME your ass. I feel u need a good roasting.

*warning flame*  :violent5:
Oh and Shivadee don't buy component cables for the Wii unless you want your eyes to bleed with some much jagged edges on screen....  your basically transforming a game like "Super Mario Galaxy" into  " Super Mario Galaxy: Lego Edition" The cables work TO well... of course if have a good TV, you could always turn down the sharpness to like around "8"  Either way Wii was made for using composite cables and it still looks great on that   =]

ok first off Limit GTX i just finish GoW2 on the PS2 this weekend on the PS3 and ill point out some things. First off compared to 360/PS3 the Wii cant hold a candle to it in graphics.....ok PS2 to the Wii now.

1. playing GoW 2 on PS3: It is upscaled....but it eh that good.. Kratos full of jaggies, much more than any Wii game ive played.

2. With the upscale in graphics you are getting a DELAYED visual of the action by a split second. That dont mean much in the game EXCEPT for them button puzzles you solve that require you to be quick. That split reaction is all you need to fail it...and its ANNOYING

3. Graphics on the Wii depend on the game. Corruption looks better than any Prime game on the Gamecube, which already looks better than MOST PS2 games. Even with the smoothout, PS2 had no graphics card, just a processor...and it friggin showed. The PS3, although enhances the games a bit and does a nice job, is not NEARLY like switching to HD from regular.....not nearly.

4. Bought the cables.....i still waiting to see a difference in the graphics :P it looks better....barely. I duno what you talking about. the jaggies are kinda smoother on the component than composite......L2 switch to 480i mode :P

480i/p makes no difference visually. Personally if your 360 can support HDMI and your TV can......GO FOR IT fella. That looks sweeeeeet.

Thats fine shivadee everyone has a different opinion and i rarely play ps2 games on my ps3 the main reason being that i've never owned a ps2, however i did infact play DMC3:SE and never had any problem with a *delayed* visual action, clearly you play more ps2 games on your ps3 that i do so you would notice more problems.

As for playing the metroid series its not 1 that i've got into like SSBM and even that isn't saying much, but you did mention something about the "ps2 having no graphics card, just a processor...and it friggin showed", i assume you really were trying to say is that the ps2 had a no GPU just a CPU, that statement is wrong the ps2 just like the ps3 did include Both CPU and GPU. PS2 - CPU: emotion engine (which everyone loved to hate), GPU: graphics synthesizer....  PS3 - cell broadband engine GPU: nvidia rsx...... just so you know i can't remember exact names so it might not be full accurate, but i do remember the ps2 having a GPU.

and as for the last part you misunderstood me, i never said that you won't see a difference between composite and component, i said your not going to see a graphical difference between 480i/p and was speaking on the topic of using component cables (not composite). Also if after you connected your HDTV set to your Wii using the component cables and you didn't see the aliasing or "jaggied lines" more noticeable compared to composite, its possible that your HDTV set has the sharpness set low already (meaning your ps3 and xbox360 games look fuzzy and you never noticed) or just your HDTV ain't all that HD, and thats no joke the majority of HDTV sets currently on the west side of trinidad that say 720p and 1080p only support the input of these standards however the screen itself can't actually display it. If you check the detailed specification it usually tell the truth and you see the native resolution at 1366 x 768  yet the HDTV supports 1080p which resolution is really 1920x1080. I've seen 40" HDTV's in westmall that have even worse resolutions at only 1024x768, I hope you didn't fall in that category.

Anyhow once your having fun playing the games, thats the most important thing, cuz next time the there is a major change from HDTV will be in like 2025 with "Super Hi-Vision" (i'm serious) and might make 1080p look like complete trash.

By chance, you had the ps3 upscaler on right?
RGB Mode set to full (assuming you running HDMI)

And smoothing to the highest?

Cuz I barely get jaggies when all those gizmos are on..

yes everything full.....I use HDMI. The emulator plays a 480 version of the PS2 game. ITs still not going to be uber sharp.....but it does look better. Environments are smoother but Kratos still got some jags....doesnt matter. The textures are cleaned up nicely

just an FYI i rented manhunt 2 for the Wii for one of my classes. Im doing a written analysis paper on it wrt to violence in videogames with a title called "Rockstar wtf!!". Also doing a writeup on the artistic style of SHadow of the COlossus for some modern contemp art class :P Im going to go buy that in a bit to play again. Since my PS2 is in trini :(

Good lord....Manhunt 2 looks like trash. Its the first Wii game ive played where you are using the thumbstick to choose options. By the third level i was so bored and frustrated (since the entire 3rd level you go into a building so dark you cant see *mind you rockstar said to put the brightness at this level* to break open crates.......thats it) I got as bored as I did with the first Manhunt game after killing the 2nd person. And the Fight Club storyline isnt anything special.

You mind letting me know a little more bout what you doing in it?

Cuz my intention is to go away to probably do something within the industry, i.e. when the opportunity arises...
