MSI P35 Neo2-FR: Platinum performance for under $100
« on: December 09, 2007, 04:03:38 PM »
Here's a review of MSI's budget P35 board, which performs just as well as the high-end Platinum version.
The catch?  No firewire or optical out, which is not really an issue for most of us.

If you're upgrading to Intel, this board is definitely worth it, and can be had on Amazon for about $122 US.
So here we have a 'bess' board with Penryn support for 'small money'.

I shall be buying one in the near future.

Arc, something is wrong with the line in your first post.

Nice board...

Even cheaper one here though...my own...

All it missing is xfire support but it HAS optical output.

I think this thing prove the chinee man who say "cheap ting no good" wrong.

I can personally attest to the quality of this part. For those who know me, i'm pretty hard on these things overclock wise and it has stood up to the pressure flawlessly. 4 thumbs up.

One thing about that board though...findamental design flaw in that BOTH pci-e x1 slots are under the video card, so if you have a card with a dual cooler, theone available slot choking under the video card and with single cooling, the furthest slot STILL to close for comfort. I like to have at least 3 inches between my video and the next card.

Just my $0.05

Which line exactly?

You are right.  It is cheaper, even on Amazon.  While it doesn't have Crossfire, it DOES have
those fancy-pants digital outputs daniboy79 is so 'tusty' for .  The MSI board however has more rear USB ports,
and an extra SATA port, which may account for the slight price difference.

I guess the decision here is more or less based on which features are more important to you.
