TBF the TLB bug (which coincidentally Intel had one as well, but anyways) was more of a server problem than a desktop one, and you had the choice to enable the BIOS patch if you wanted to, I recall someone on this forum NOT enabling it and running fine. That aside Capn is also right AMD would not have been able to foot that bill, this goes a long way to show how much EXTRA cash intel has lying around on its floors....

On a related note, good of them to go the Dell/HP/Apple/everyone who had a certain Nvidia chipset albeit ALOT FASTER and without saying its EVERYONE ELSE FAULT. XD

you know... whiles this bug may be big... i don't see it affecting a whole lot of people...

mainstream users run 1 maybe 2 hard drives max...

not to mention, this is not even a problem users would see in the near future, boards would run 2-3 years fine without experiencing the issue so i say intel does indeed deserve a big Kudos for coming out with it and addressing the problem.

Another company mighta just let it slide whiles updating the new revision

Well OK, look Asus and Gigabyte already work up plans to replace/refund people with 6-series motherboards.

...and according to Intel, it will be at least 3 yrs before any issues would start cropping up anyway.

So what's the problem again?

Must be the 'same' problem you know, like with the Phenom TLB that showed only on very specific SERVER workloads... you know, its a problem that could crash the internets... dangerous things like that XD
