Gay dwarf marriages banned from MMORPGLord of the Rings rulesBy Nick Farrell: Monday 30 April 2007, 07:04Click here to find out more!THE MAKER of the The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar, has decided that a feature that would allow player characters to get married online was too much of a hot potato.Since September the game has been in beta and came with a function that allowed player characters to get married online. But the idea started to cause heated debate among the development team.Firstly there was a question whether or not gay characters should be allowed to marry in the game, which is apparently a big problem in parts of America, where even the online community is supposed to stone people in accordance to the wishes of Leviticus. Then there was the small matter of whether hobbits should be allowed to marry dwarfs. Finally developers had a huge row about whether gay dwarfs should be allowed to get married in the game.According to Salon.com, the team leader decided that everyone was wasting enough time on the matter and pulled the function from the game. Now Middle Earth has truly become Middle England, where if gay people get married, they don't tell anyone.
