Software snoop goes on sale

For parents and employers who 'care'

By Nick Farrell: Friday 08 September 2006, 07:40

A CANADIAN company is releasing a piece of remote control software that will enable parents to spy on their children, and employers to see what their employees are doing.
“I'm InTouch”, which has been developed by 01 Communique and it allows the program to be installed in "stealth mode" where it requires a degree in hacking.

A spokes01 said that a parent could log in from any computer on the internet and see what their children are doing online without letting them know.

Companies can use I'm InTouch's new feature to install the program on employees' computers and allow others to monitor their work without alerting them.

If a parent or employer does not like what they are seeing on their screen they can use the their remote device to take control of their computer.

Although InTouch has been around for a while, it is the first time that such remote control has been possible. It means that parents who are obssessive enough to snoop on their kids, but too distant to actually be there can actually continue to pay controling games.

Of course the software does not come with a compulsory psychological counselling programme to work out why you feel the need to control your children or your employees. If it did, then people would probably not need to buy the thing.

Interesting indeed but it has always been possible to do this with windoze machines. Check out Back Orafice. I don't know if it's still around but I used to use this back in the day. I could even look at the person using the machine if they had a netcam plugged in. I think that this sort of remote control would just be a novelty though 'cause who has the time to continually check on what other people are doing these days anyway?

Shots in stereo. The AIDS man cometh!

ultra vnc as a service with input disabled - they all require a network port, so you can see what's open with netstat.

netstat -a -b [-v] for the proggie and dll's involved ;)
:P random text doesn't go out of date does it?

so hmm u say u can take control of pc hmm. So if someone were to go into an internet cafe and install this program they could use the pc in the internet cafe for free lol! (which would make no sense at all cuz u need internet to do this anyway) I think spying is something for stupid parents cuz smart parents already know whats goin on.
I will live forever..... Until i die

Anyhow you cut it, this is wrong as its an invasion of a person's personal business without their knowing. End of story. For organisations, i dont see the need for continuous monitoring of staff. Once productivity stays at a desirable level, this is not needed. As for parents who want to spy on their kids, they should have done a better job so that things like these wont be necessary.
