Favorite music in games

We all know that games have had some really great tunes over the years. These are just some of the great ones I can think of right now. If you have any to mention, please keep them to music created for games and not commercial stuff that is just used in games (Vice City, EA Trax, etc.)

1. Super Mario Bros. - The most recognizable three notes probably in all of video games. That original tune will stay with me till I die. Also, the underground and underwater tunes are just as good.

2. The Legend of Zelda - The main theme is another classic from Koji Kondo. If there is one thing missing from Ocarina of Time, this original tune is it.

3. Doom - The music from the first level still gets my adrenaline pumping when I hear it. It just screams at you to shoot something and run like hell.

4. Street Fighter II - So many ... Where to start. Ryu's theme is one of the best pieces of music I have ever heard. Ken, Guile, Blanka, and Vega also have excellent ones.

5. Killer Instinct - The original theme song was made even better when I bought the SNES version and got the Killer Cuts CD.

6. The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time - Virtually all the music in this game is amazing. The Gerudo theme is a stand out piece.

7. Parappa The Rapper - All the songs are so unique and well done (except maybe the cooking chicken). The lyrics are beyond comparison: "In the rain or in the snow, I really got to go." "Been working here since my mama was a baby."

8. Tetris - Yes, this is Russian folk music but this is another song I will take with me to my grave. For those who don't know, I am talking about the original Game Boy version. I think the other versions had different music.

9. Total Annihilation - I know most Trinis would not have given this game the time of day given their preoccupation with whichever -Craft they were playing at the time. However, this game had some of the best music I have heard. It was dynamic so during lulls in battles, you would hear a slow tune and in battles you hear some rousing orchestral music. It was done by Jeremy Soule who went on to do KOTOR, Advent Rising, Oblivion and others.

10. Out Run - Magical Sound Shower just makes you feel like racing. If that music was standard in all racing games, I think I wouldn't mind.

11. Command and Conquer - The tune for the sixth stage, I think it was, when you had to play as just a commando was so suited to that level. It gave you a real sense that you were supposed to sneak around without attracting attention.

I find Halo had a good music theme and the Songs from GTA especially Vice City and San Andreas, i know they were real sounds by real artists but it suited the game perfectly...

I think I put a post quite similar to this....but who cares...Metal Gear Solid(all of them) has the best musical score.

Other games with cool music include:
Donkey Kong Country
Killer Instinct
Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3
Grand Theft Auto Vice City
Resident Evil 2
Need for Speed Underground and Most Wnated
and
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4

as always i'd say METAL GEAR SOLID soundtrack, from the first game all the way till now, the music all fit the game, from the opera to the orchestra composed, always has a powerful theme.   hitman also has it's moments too , and of course tekken.

Let me mention 2 classics: Frogger and Gyruss. Most people know Frogger but I remember the music was really catchy. Gyruss is a game a lot of people may have missed. It was a shooter in which you move in a complete circle around the screen. In the middle were the enemies that came out and then assembled Galaga style, then attacked. The music was some classical tune that they used but it was really good.
