Hehe, hey guys, sorry that i coulnd;t come on ealier and give updates, but next to gatt their are 100 million other boards i had to update but here i am finally...
Firstly, i have to thank the gaming community here at GATT for spreading the word about VxG, which helped us attract 12 gamers from trinidad! Many more wanted to come, but with more time to plan i am sure next year we can get at least 30 from trinidad. The trinidadadians here were a REAL fun bunch... outside of the gaming we had lots of other fun, like going to the clubs and dinner and stuff... and NUF jokes after the event... wooy... GB_executioner is one funny mofo...
Xen and his team was not able to make it for this year's comp, but will be there next year for sure. They would have faced extremely tough competition for the game though, with teams from the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Canada, St. Maarten and French St. Martin vying for that (i wouldn;t worry bout the last one, french st. maarten, cause thy got 50 ZERO ON THEIR ASSES! THATS RIGHT, Canada pwned them with a superb tactic and hit them 50-0 in halo!). As amazing as canada was, NH from Puerto Rico was even better... that team man... they rival Halogod... they played the best Halo i have ever seen in my life...
RB was a real good sport for the competition. It was great having him around... he even helped us Referee some parts of some games! He knows his shit about gaming!!! Unfortunately, he didn't reach to the finals of 3rd strike, but got a respectable 4th, very tough position to get given that the Puerto Ricans vowed at all costs to win ALL 2d games, which they did. What was really nice, is that he donated his 3rd Strike bible to Gary Sham of Jamaica, who is very eager to advance in 3rd strike after losing at the hands of RB
. Looking forward to having you again next year RB! Keep up the gaming and win 3rd strike for Trinidad next year!
The puerto ricans, as i said, vowed to take all 2d fighting games before they came. They almost took ALL fighting games, but out boy Jin11 easily manhandled everyone at VxG's tekken 5 competition. But back to puerto rico...They brought this guy, called Nestor Corchado a.k.a SAGE. Before the competition, he just said "I'd be coming along to VxG btw..." i was like OK COOL...little did i know that the guy was TOP TEN IN THE USA! So... he went home with a full luggage of prizes, including 2 PSP's, a DS Lite, an Xbox 360, a cellular phone. The good news? next year he will not be attending VxG since he will be attending Evo next year... the bad news... everyone has already started training to kick his ass next year (including me, since i will be making a comeback to the VxG competition thanks to a change in our policy, which allows me to enter, but if i win i must relegate my prize to the player underme (so if i get 2nd, my prize goes to 3rd). Puerto Ricans are very strong 2d fighters, and i think this was a learning experience for many of the other Caribbean and international player present. St. Maarten has already taken suit... the other day i walked into a local gaming center which ussually has ONLY HALO playing... to my utter suprise i saw STREET FIGHTER games on EVERY SCREEN... NO HALO. St. Maarten and the Netherlands both want to reclaim their 2d Fighting trophies that they shared for the last 4 years till now... gonna be interesting to see what happens next year in the 2d fighting scene, especially since i will be back to represent the 2d fighting scene on St. Maarten!
Jamaica really suprised me... they were incredible. The guys are the most versatile set of gamers i have ever met. They play EVERYTHING... and ALL of it at a high level. Later, when we release the full brackets, you will see what i mean. The medal count table only shows up to 4rd place... but these guys got a BUNCH of 4th's and fifth. For a real nice story on Andrew's side, check out this post here he made at Area 51.
http://www.area51jamaica.com/area51forum/viewtopic.php?t=554And, as you see, jamaica had the highest medal ratio by far! They had the least numbers of contestants to get medals 0 just 2 players to get 9 points!
Now gameboyz... wow... i mean those guys were simply unstopable. Great team, great potential to become professional, and thats what we will be aiming for these guys. We want to get them to more tournaments and more gigs. For certain, we have them lined up to go to the ESWC qualifier in Martinique next year, and once they win there (which they will) Trinidad will be represnting the Caribbean at the Electronic Sports World Cup in France for 2006.
Well i gotta go to work now... i'll try and pass by and hit more updates as they come. Be sure to check out the vxg website for pics and more news...
