When did Intel manage to slip this one out?

Only difference I noted off the bat is that it's an 800MHz FSB Processor as opposed to the 1066MHz FSB of its older siblings... and it's obviously now the cheapest Core 2 Duo available.

Your thoughts?

Yeah, 1.8 Ghz too.
I dunno, the 2 GHz barrier is kinda psychological for me. E6600 or nothing yes.  When the price of THAT
drops below 250 US, THEN we could talk.

The overclock ability of this baby is ridiculous... also take note of this:

Another significant update coming in Q2 is that the low end 6000 series Core 2 Duo processors will receive 4MB L2 caches like their more expensive brethren. Currently the E6300 and E6400 both have 2MB L2s, but both chips will be replaced by 4MB versions - the E6320 and E6420 respectively. Clock speeds and other details won’t change, but performance will obviously increase. The best part of it all is that pricing won’t change either, so if you’re contemplating buying an E6300 or E6400 you’d be better off waiting a quarter so you can get the extra cache for free.

My intended super upgrade by April shall now wait till June!

^^^yep, this is because of the higher multiplier. this thing overclock like a monster with the right ram/mobo combination.

This was posted a while back. I think it came out somewhere in the middle of January. There's another thread somewhere where we already talked about it.Saxman is right though, that thing is very overclockable with the right board. Excellent value for a sub $200 cpu. This would almost definately be the basis of my rig in a couple months.
