AM2 Perfomance preview

 Anandtech has released an AM2 preview, AMD has increased its perfomance on the socket by  about 5% it seems, earlier revisions of the chips were actually slower than the 939 socket chips... This isn't a major overhaul for AMD.. just a move to a new socket like what intel did with 775 ...
    This is done mainly to allow AMD to work out bugs with DDRII early on , so when their chips need the bandwidth (quad cores +)  there won't be any teething issues.

 Though.. looks like i getting a conroe..no new AMD cores till  at least july 2007 after these..

DDR2 in conjunction with the AM2 seems to provide a virtually non-existant increase in performance. The only shining light out of AM2 as far as I can see right now is the return of the thermal design we saw on some of the mobile XP CPU's now ported to some of the dual cores which can make for some insane overclockability. Based on their current rate of development, it is not unreasonable to expect that by the time Computex rolls around, we may see a vast performance boost. Only time will tell.
