So ....SLI question

I have an SLI mobo Asus 8SN and an SLI gfx card......7800 GTX 256 EVGA

My eyes fall on the 7900 GTX 256......but so far i seeing XFX have one out.....on Newegg.....i think

Anyway. Can these two work together? two different models, differnt brands? Sorry for the stupid question.....im new to this SLI thing and dont want ot wast money....just double graphics power.

As of driver release 79.88 ( or there abouts, ill get exact version for historical records) Any two sli capable nvidia cards can be duoed.

Mind you, nvidia accomplished this with JUST a bios update and no more.

Hmm to the best of my knowledge, Nvidia's updated drivers allowed for video cards of different BIOSs, different clock speeds and different manufacturers to be mixed together in SLI.. HOWEVER I have not read anything to date that suggests what crixx is saying. You can mix manufacturers, BIOS reviews and clock speeds (even though the cards will default to the lower speed of the 2). However crixxx please post the relevant links to said information as ALL the links i've found simply verify what i've said (including nvidia's site, see below for links).

To further back my previous post, I sent a FAQ request to Nvidia itself and they replied:

Thank you for contacting NVIDIA Customer Care.

NVIDIA does not support SLI on two different models or from different vendors. SLI supports configurations with the same model (i.e. 6800 Ultra) from the same vendor.

NVIDIA has not added any cross card model compatibility to its driver support.

So I was a little off on 1 part (about cross manufacturer's compatibility) HOWEVER I AM right about the no cross model compatibility. I hope this answers your question and SHAME on CRIXX.. having an AMDite/ATIte schooling you on Nvidia's driver support :p
