I have been using Green Dot for a few months now as an alternative to Dial-Up. The service has been consistently inconsistent, meaning every day I have problems with it. Sometimes I can browse and download at high speeds (15-25K). Other times, I get timeouts and generally can't do anything. Some might be wondering why I don't have TSTT High Speed. Well, I live in Caroni and it is unavailable. I call TSTT all the time to find out if anything has changed but I get the same response that it is not available and they don't have a timeframe for me. I am now wondering if I should go back to TSTT Dial-Up or continue to use Green Dot in the hope that it will get better or that TSTT High Speed will be available soon. I remember having timeout problems with Dial-Up before but not with the consistency that I do with Green Dot. Does anyone have any information for me to make a better decision? By this, I mean any info from company workers (TSTT or Green Dot) on availability (in TSTT's case) or improved service (Green Dot).

well you've come to the right place.

We are chuck full of disgruntled greendot customers.

Right now, it is TSTT or buss for high speed internet.

TSTT DSL vs Greendot.

Winner TSTT by a LARGE margin.

TSTT Dial up vs Greendot

Winner TSTT Dial up by a small margin. (Thanks to consistency, reliability and low latency of the TSTT dial up connection)

Green dot vs Dial up :
Winner dial up , a few months ago green dot owned dial up if you didn't play games online , games were actually PLAYABLE ( strategy / MMORPG, no fps) due to low packet loss  , plus the big increase in bandwidth ,  30 k constant and occasionally some screw up will allow me to get 100-150 k , thats 1mbit speed... P2p worked .. i was happy ...
Then it got shitty... ports locked and now that green has hundreds of customers they also too damned cheap to get a fatter backbone , so now we scrunting @ 10-12k , 128kilobit speed... sometimes it goes down to 8  ! MCS MCS !! FREAKING MCS!

Hopefully Laqtel / Digicell will offer the bushmen some high speed , tstt not coming in their area anytime soon....  thank god i can finally get dsl.. but tstt holding my modem hostage in some warehouse and making me wait!

Ok. So Green Dot buss. Anyone try any options other than TSTT Dial-Up? Fiberline? Any other dial up providers? And if any other dial ups, how many POP's do they have? How does TSTT charge us for phone usage with other dial up providers. Keep in mind I am in Caroni, not in the bush, but apparently not close enough to St. Augustine exchange for DSL. Also, anyone know of TSTT's plans for additional rollouts for DSL (timeframes, locations, etc.)?

If you feel GreenDot buss...wait till you try Fiberline! I used it for several months at my old workplace. Slow like a snail on tar and dies on a daily basis. Every day I gettin call "Why can't I get online?" "Why I cyar check my email?"

Hopefully GreenDot just going through a bad phase and just need a land line or something to supplement that satellite backbone. But for now I'm not sure what you can do. You can try Cariblink's Proximity@Home wireless dsl but to my understanding that service kinda buss.

Harrass TSTT more for their DSL. Tell them to send somebody over and check it manually. I was originally told I was too far from the Diego exchange to get it. Then I found out about somebody not too far from me having it, we pester them to come and check it again. I on the service a good while now and it working good.
Have you ever wished things just were?

Yeah boy

Fiberline was another horror story.

Promises never materialized there either.

So far, TSTT really is your only good choice. If you're not into games and just want impressive download speeds, then chase down some Satellite service.

forget these others.
