anyone ever hear of that site?... checkit out  http://www.no-ip.com/ .i trying to set up a web server, i have a dsl modem/router and i configure the port forwarding on it,but i still getting the dsl modem/router configuration page. all how i try, i not getter the server. an help would be appreciated.

no-ip.com is the daddy of dynamic DNS sites...

Need some more info about your setup before I can tell you precisely what's out of place...

I assume you have a static IP on the web server already? And that same IP is where you set the port to forward to on the router?

Make sure the no-ip.com software is able to connect and update your account with your Internet IP...i.e. firewall isn't blocking it from doing the update etc.

Assuming you stuck with the default port 80 for the web server, make sure you're forwarding TCP packets on port 80 and not UDP...tho TCP is the default protocol, so you're pretty safe there.

Maybe if you threw up some screenshots of your port forwarding config screen we might be able to spot something...

yeah, I used to use no-ip.com when i had dialup. Thinking of using it now that I have dsl. All I need now is a name...

well this is the setting, i change the port to access the router, thinking that since port 80 is http it could not redirect the connection cause the router cannot have the same port as the server in use.

Just so you know i am checking this site right now but what i want to know is what does it really do for us in Trinidad and are yall registered to TSTT?

what it does id maps the name you specify, any name to your changing ip address with a special piece of software. so when someone types in the name of your site like http://yourname.no-ip.info..  it goes to no ip servers and the request is redirected to your ip address which you would set up ass your server... you can put up anny server you want
