******************************************************************************
Hello Everyone,
Well, it had to happen and, as the cliche goes, "all good things must come to an end".
ANIME CITY #9, scheduled for March 28th, will indeed be the final event produced by us to bear that name.
We've had a great time serving all of you for the past 3 plus years, providing quality movies, good entertainment, ,making first-class product available at extra-affordable prices and helping to foster many friendships with the community. It was indeed our pleasure.
But, sadly, economics get in the way of all things and the people who provided us with goods and services for Anime City (room rentals, chairs, projection equipment etc.) saw your support of Anime City as their chance to make large sums of money without regard for the future of the show.
Accommodations at both the Centre of Excellence and Bishops began to skyrocket with each successive show - rising almost 100%
during the life of Anime City.
The price of each chair went up by 50% and the Centre of Excellence began asking for thousands of dollars extra if we wanted to allow our guests to park in their compound. If we needed to go in to set up the night before we had to pay several thousand dollars extra for this so, since Anime City fans arrive at the gates VERY early in the morning, we had no choice but to pay these robber baron sums.
Bishops and the COE started charging extra for screens, raised the prices of their rooms and the Main Hall and added all sorts of ridiculous janitorial and security charges - despite the fact their security did nothing but ask us for free stuff all day ...
And, through all of this, we remained firm with our prices never charging a single cent more for any of our 11 shows ... we believed that our fans came first and once, just once, we would like to set a precedent in Trinidad where people got value for money consistently rather than supporting something and then seeing the price of it increased to generate super-profits ...
Sadly, our vision has been compromised by circumstances and people over whom we have no control ... and we do apologise.
Rest assured, though, God willing The Genesis Foundation is already hard at work with our next project and we promise that it will be, as usual, something that no one else has ever dared to do.
But you knew that, didn't you? The Genesis Foundation has always been innovative, leading the way and creating openings through which others copy and try to imitate - but never succeed. We've made many, many friends along the way and intend to continue those friendships for years to come.
Please feel free to visit us at any time at our offices #1 ROSALINO STREET, WOODBROOK, POS or call/email/write to us with your thoughts, suggestions and whatever you'd like to see at future shows.
Thank you all for a wonderful time and may God richly bless each and every one of you with your future endeavours.
Best Regards,
Hafeez Amin
