 i haven't found any athlon 64 3000 vs sempron 3100 , but no doubt the a64 will be  alot faster, it has 2x the cache and support for dual channel DDR , and 64 bit extensions, i would sacrifice the 20-30 US extra for a good bit more performance and support for 64 bit games when they come into the mainstream
