Nvidia first with Win 64 bit logoBy Fuad Abazovic: Friday 04 March 2005, 18:06NVIDIA IS first with WHQL drivers for Windows XP, x64 Edition. Nvidia got a confirmation that Microsoft admitted its recently submitted driver for Geforce 6800 Ultra and gave it a stamp of approval for this operating system. Nvidia can rock the Win x64 bit edition with certified WHQLd driver. You can say that this is the first x64 Logo graphic driver. This driver is good to go, at least that’s what Microsoft rigorous Windows Hardware Quality Labs testing torturing procedures stands for. Microsoft focuses mainly on stability during this testing procedure and this driver passed the test.Windows XP, X64 Edition is just around the corner. We played with Release Candidate 2 recently and this one works just fine, very fast with network browsing and just a little bit slower than Win 32 in graphic. Maybe this new driver can match the performance or even make things faster you never know. We reported earlier that you can expect the official version in early April.ATI also said that it will be ready with its Win 64 bit driver as soon as this 64 bit OS is ready. So, ATI, I hope you are close to acquire this certificate as well. I think we should give that driver a try under the 64 bit environment. For those of you that don’t know, even Intel likes 64 bit marchitecture as its new CPUs support it. The X64 is the future whether you wanted it or not. µ
