First of all , make sure u have the latest drivers AND Winrar . To make Doom III load faster , extract the .Pak files using winrar [ rename as .zip or something] , Normally Doom III has to extract the individual files while u wait for it to load levels/sounds etc. , now you will notice less stuttering in game and faster load times .
Performance tweak for ATI cards : Radeon 9500,9600 etc. and above ONLY!
go to
http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/viewtopic.ph...der=asc&start=0 , and follow the instructions . This provides up to 40% increase in performance! albiet with
minor glitches in some systems. Some systems go faster with Aniso on than without it, some get no performance boost at all . But the benchmarks prove, ATi is doing the work that needs to be done to be done, i won't be surprised that by next year ati is within 5% or less of nvidias performance in DIII .
Another ATi tweak would be to create a radlink of the DoomIII shortcut, right click on it and click 'Add custom settings' , then go to properties , openGL . Turn Vsync on , and triple buffering on.... you can also set any other things you like eg. anti aliasing here.
Go to the DIII folder , find the .config file ,open it with the notepad . Find 'Seta image_cacheMegs' for those with less than 512 ram , experiment with the settings '32' '64' '96' '128' '256' etc. For those with more than
512 ram ,'256 ' and '512" Turn seta image_useCache from 0 to 1 , seta image_cacheMinK "10240? or ?20480?.
