Quick noob questions about gaming and resolutions

Hey guys i recently bought a new motherboard power supply etc am3rock btw. Been using its onboard graphics card which is nvidia geforce 7025 for gaming mostly of course more specifically hon and various mmos. I have a fan incoming today as my case fan does malfunction (works after i spin it a bit, stops randomly ) so i tend to randomly have a overheating problem. The program speedfan doesnt pick up my fans properly .

Anyways to the resolution part.

Would i get a noticably large increase in gaming and pc performance if i turn the resolution down to 800x600? My monitor screen resolution is recommended at 1024x768 so i try to run hon at that. Would it make sense to swap both monitor and game res to 800 for the sake of gaming/performance?

(Note im buyin myself a new graphics card for my birthday in a few weeks, meaning i am mostly asking if a res decrease is a good temporary fix )

I have little knowledge in this regard, can some of u enlighten me?

turning down the eye candy and resolution usually help in attaining a better fps

thnx,will do . but i noticed it does kind of pull on the pc when the game is a different res as the desktop. So turn down desktop/monitor res too?
