So I'm yet another user to have experienced the infamous wireless card failure...Card fails...randomly begins to work while using the notebook...Then not working again..3 months later...notebook doesn't start..1 long beep, 2 short beeps...The whole story can be found here with many other users with exact same problems:http://www.topix.com/forum/computers/hp/T0MJR4DP7135S7QA6Now...My problem is that I live outside of the US, namely Trinidad, Caribbean..So its not simple as sending laptop to HP for repair..Local pc store has tried to source the motherboard with no success...So yesterday, I decided to try turning on the notebook... And it booted up!!! (After about 10 times of pressing the power button)...This was a heaven sent moment that the notebook would even start after all those months! So in XP now...I began a frantic search to see if there's any fix I can use as I'm in the notebook...Read that I should update the bios...I did so...and the system restarted perfectly.....You can imagine the relief...Kept restarting the system (different ways.. shut down, hibernation etc.....It works! Then it goes again... same beep code... no starting up....I kept trying to turn it back on with no success, til I decided to let it remain on...By holding down the power button for a few seconds while it was on...I turned it off...I turned it back on...and the system booted to the Windows was not shut down properly screen..Safe Mode, Last known good configuration, Start normally... I started it normally...Same sequence of events... Everytime I turn it off... It won't start... Let it start up for a few minutes til the system gets into windows... Turn it off, turn it back on...Back to the windows boot screen...So I have narrowed this down to an XP problem..The system boots once XP was not shut down properly???Anyhowz...In a desperate attempt at solving this problem..My notebook is now doing a Destructive Recovery... Me hoping that it may fix the problem...Any suggestions anyone?1.) The Bios update helped the problem but did not solve it.... Another update can do the trick... (HP are you reading? Your update helped, please release another better one...)2.) Could this really be a Windows XP problem? There are 3 things plaguing this widespread problem: Wireless Card, AMD processors and Bios...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Update: Destructive Recovery Complete.... Same Problem...I can't boot windows...I leave it on for a few minutes..Turn it off...Restart it ...and it boots back to the windows boot screen...:|Someone please help...This is clearly a software problem..not hardware...Nothing is wrong with the Video Adapter...As I have played full 3d games (Unreal Tournament 2004) while it was running....The wireless card is working..its not defective...The laptop motherboard is clearly working...
Update....they couldn't source the motheboard...Well they did find it...but...the supplier kept cancelling the order for some reason...ANyhowz..Fellaz urgent help REQUIRED!Please...I turned on the laptop and it boot up...I in windows right now..THis had only happened one other time in the past 3 months...I searched and apparently there is a bios update that may fix it..Problem is..I can;t download from ftp from some reason...So can one of ya'll please download this bios update for me...And upload to rapidshare.com or other file host...Please... I don't want to turn off the notebook...This is the bios update:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-54820-1&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3227530&os=228&lang=enAlso this driver:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-53245-1&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3227530&os=228&lang=enAs it is related...Thanks in advance!!!
