This might not help much, but you tried draining the static electricity from the system?

Btw depending on how vex you are with HP, you can fill out a complaint here  :lol:

Apparently they are ready to file lawsuits...

lol i saw that site..and i will be filing a complaint soon....

As for the draining static electricity...I saw somewhere to remove battery, power....
And hold down power button for 10+ seconds...

Did that prior to flashing bios...

And well i'm posting this from the notebook right now...

Still getting sporadic system failures at start-up though...

^done/did/doing that...  :crybaby2:

K I posted this up on the HP Support Forums -

Quote
So I'm yet another user to have experienced the infamous wireless card failure...

Card fails...randomly begins to work while using the notebook...Then not working again..

3 months later...notebook doesn't start..
1 long beep, 2 short beeps...

The whole story can be found here with many other users with exact same problems:
http://www.topix.com/forum/computers/hp/T0MJR4DP7135S7QA6

Now...My problem is that I live outside of the US, namely Trinidad, Caribbean..
So its not simple as sending laptop to HP for repair..
Local pc store has tried to source the motherboard with no success...

So yesterday, I decided to try turning on the notebook... And it booted up!!! (After about 10 times of pressing the power button)...
This was a heaven sent moment that the notebook would even start after all those months!

So in XP now...I began a frantic search to see if there's any fix I can use as I'm in the notebook...
Read that I should update the bios...
I did so...and the system restarted perfectly.....
You can imagine the relief...

Kept restarting the system (different ways.. shut down, hibernation etc.....It works!
Then it goes again... same beep code... no starting up....

I kept trying to turn it back on with no success, til I decided to let it remain on...
By holding down the power button for a few seconds while it was on...I turned it off...

I turned it back on...and the system booted to the Windows was not shut down properly screen..
Safe Mode, Last known good configuration, Start normally... I started it normally...

Same sequence of events... Everytime I turn it off... It won't start... Let it start up for a few minutes til the system gets into windows... Turn it off, turn it back on...
Back to the windows boot screen...

So I have narrowed this down to an XP problem..
The system boots once XP was not shut down properly???

Anyhowz...In a desperate attempt at solving this problem..My notebook is now doing a Destructive Recovery...
Me hoping that it may fix the problem...

Any suggestions anyone?

1.) The Bios update helped the problem but did not solve it.... Another update can do the trick... (HP are you reading? Your update helped, please release another better one...)

2.) Could this really be a Windows XP problem? There are 3 things plaguing this widespread problem: Wireless Card, AMD processors and Bios...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Update: Destructive Recovery Complete.... Same Problem...
I can't boot windows...
I leave it on for a few minutes..Turn it off...Restart it ...and it boots back to the windows boot screen...
:|
Someone please help...
This is clearly a software problem..not hardware...
Nothing is wrong with the Video Adapter...As I have played full 3d games (Unreal Tournament 2004) while it was running....
The wireless card is working..its not defective...
The laptop motherboard is clearly working...
WTK Laptop GPU reflow (HP DV6000)
« Reply #33 on: December 07, 2010, 07:28:24 AM »
Ok the laptop in this thread has been unused for 1.5yrs.
1.5yrs ago it randomly booted and worked for about a month before dying completely.
Summarised background on the issue:
HP DV6040CA model laptop stopped booting. Black screen, 1 long beep 2 short beeps indicating video failure. Sent to HP, they fixed it under warranty and sent it back. 30mins of usage back to the same problem. Sent back to HP again, they replaced the motherboard. Laptop worked about 5months before video failure again.
Yesterday I saw the carcass there, and decided to read up if any DIY fixes had come to light/check prices on motherboards etc.
Seems the fix for this line of laptops is the same as the fix for a PS3 or Xbox 360.
The gpu needs to be reflowed.
Aside from putting together a PC tower I ain't no tech expert when it comes to the nitty gritty of things + I don't have a heat gun and thermal paste and whatever you guys would do to complete this operation.
Does anyone know anyone or can do a GPU reflow on this notebook?
Looked at some videos of people doing the reflow on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dv6000+reflow&aq=f
If the price is decent for the labor I won't mind paying something just to get back this notebook up and running.
Thanks.
