http://www.joystickdivision.com/2009/10/nintendo_dsi_ll.phpIt feels like it was just yesterday that we were getting news of the DSi, now Nintendo has officially revealed their latest model, the DSi LL.
Consider this article our official condolences to those who bought the DS, then the DS Lite, then recently the DSi. Nintendo has taken advantage of your DS obsession and that is just wrong. But whatever, we live and learn, and constantly upgrade.
As for details, there really aren't many. It's obvious that the screens are much larger (4.2" each, 93% larger than the DS Lite) and we know that the stylus is much larger as well, resembling the size of an actual pen (it will also be bundled with a smaller stylus).
The flavors will be known as Dark Brown, Wine Red and Natural White (we know, our screenshot looks like more like a Black Onyx).
This model was supposedly made at the request of users who wanted a bigger screen for use beyond just gaming. It will come bundled with a few DSiWare titles, but those looking to upgrade will lose all previous DSiWare games they have currently.
The only thing stopping me from excitement is the lack of a North American launch announcement. The system will be debuting in Japan and Europe (where it's being called the DSi XL just before Thanksgiving and will retail for $220 ).
Anton and I will have a fun time discussing the next DS version's name. Perhaps the DS XYZ? let us know your variant in the comments.
