Ridiculous Upload Speed

Well today I had to transfer a relatively large file (700mb) to the UK for work.

Unfortunatley, the UK ftp site died for whatever reason.

Decided to upload said file to the carigamers' ftp server instead rather than waiting for the UK based IT team to figure out what went wrong with their site.

Was astonished to see the sort of speeds our little corner of cyberspace could recieve data at. I knew the bandwidth was massive but got damn!

Possible cached business?

What conenction were u using...as in what is its normal upload rate. A good test would have been to upload some other file to the same server.

I uploaded two files when I saw the speed of the first. Speed was maintained all the way through the transfers. Jaw Dropping.

We really have some serious bandwidth on this baby.

Not cached at all. The video file was also highly compressed already (from a 4gb dvd iso). No chance of compression playing a significant part.

Really impressed me. Using a flow DS3 for the upload. These bad boys perform. Definitely worth the $$ we spend on them.

Hmmm that's a 10 mbit upload speed, as much as my download speed. Question is...what kinna download speed they have there...

I benchmarked it sometime ago, speed was @ 45mb down.

tried searching gatt for where I posted the results but came up blank. Think it used to be in my sig as a speedtest banner. Will test it again when I'm back @ the office.

Hmmm yes that speed right on par for a t3 connection. They dont get much faster than that. Just out of curiousity, how much are they paying for such a connection? My guess is about a lil cool 45thou monthly?

Another test, this time to miami, florida. A bit more practical figures. That first result maybe just interal to flow, since it is a flow connection after all.
