I don't share many of my tips. Sorry if it sounds selfish, but hey-Shiz has the idea. Some like things to be kept a secret and hold to what precious little they have.

Now I'm not trying to make excuses here, but I've never been a console gamer. Now don't get me wrong-I'll play MANY console titles, anything from RPG's straight down to just party games: e.g CTR, Fun racing, Mario Kart, Mario Party-you get the idea. Massive multiplayer console games that are fun. But in terms of fighters like the Cvs SNk, Streetfighter series, Rival Schools etc, I haven't grown onto them because of utter lack of them earlier as a developing gamer and for some reason, unlike most skilled players, I cannot seem to hold my own long enough in terms of remembering combos, wringing, player strats. Its a fault I've had for QUITE a while. i've tried to adapt, but things don't seem to go smoothly.

Now as Neo and Imperial put it-there is a populous of PC and populous of console and I admore them both. Each are skilled and each hold their ground VERY well. Nuff props to everyone. But I agree on the fact that GATT lacks much spacing and community for the consolers. I don't have many suggestions on what can be done, but hey-who better to ask than the group themselves? But we're off to a decent start-threads and a new forum group can be made and we can see how things go from there.

Wheee, real man posting......

Well, time for me to put my little 2 cents in the mix. If people remember correctly, when FIA now come on the scene in GATT last year, we was STRICTLY console men. We hardly played any console games. Now it's the exact reverse. We hardly have console players and we are concentrating on PC games like FPS and RTS.
I think this is because we realised that the console gamers were a bare minimum and there wasn't much challenges in the console area. DO NOT TAKE MY POST WRONG. I NOT SAYING THE CONSOLE MEN NOT GOOD. I just saying that there only about a handful of men who go see yuh playing a game and run and challenge yuh compared to if yuh go on a PC and start up a game of e.g. COD and a whole setta men run to a pc and start to join yuh game.

I'm not sure what we could do to boost the console action in GATT... cuz it's been weak for awhile and it's moving towards dead. Tell meh if i lying by saying that going in SNS on a Saturday and playing CVS2 or KOF or MVC2 wasn't one of the better console limes we used to have? Now that SNS tv gone....LAAAAWWWDDDD. And HQ + Euro console action is a bare minimum....

I'm supporting the multi platform console tourney. This will require serious planning though.....but these are serious men speaking here...

On the note of Imperial's idea of console exhibits, i really doh understand what u mean by that. You want the console men to show what we could do? As in how fast we could beat a man or kill some1 in 1 combo etc.? If that is what you mean, then that discourages people more than encourages. I mean, some men go get vex and vow to train to come back beat you, but most (70% of trinidad) go just be too embaressed to play again.

I think we need to start small. As in, the GL's. What can we do to improve the gaming in there on a regular basis, like as alyuh say, we shouldn't only be console sweatin when BF loading up. We should be making that TV get hot an ting from sweating so much

When I say console exhibits, we could take any console only title, and make an AMV and things like that.

But hell, why not do a combo exhibition.  If we get at least one person fired up for revenge we would have achieved something.  Too many ppl figure you can just press any old BS and win.  That's the level they think that console games are on.  It's about time we show the less-informed the truth, don't you think?

Yet another good point there Imperail. But then the age old question comes up again:

Are you and some others willing to part with/teach others your methods?

Eva, u must understand. If we don't understand our gaming how are we going to get better? So what. Let them learn yuh combos. Now it's up to you to counter YOUR OWN CREATION with something better. Challenge yourself...only way to know if your own combo/strategy CAN be stopped

LIGHT BULB!!!

Building on Scar's idea. We could do the crappy FIFA tourney and throughout, we could distribute flyers/posters about other GATT related console events.

Something along the lines of subliminal messages being sent....

Put on a FIFA tourney and you'll get lots of people.
But not the kind you want.
It's like having an Otaku convention in Trinidad...and then making Kenshin the feature presentation. You know what you get.

Personally I have no problems giving out my strategies, hell I've already devoted something like a hundred thousand words into putting my strats into written words.
I'm up for anything.

But y'know we don't NEED the whole of trinidad to come.Just enough hardcore players to cover the cost any event mught incur.THAT's what makes people better.A small group of dedicated gamers always playing together.
All around the world, that's what got strong gaming communities started.Anyone who has time should go to SRK and check out the articles they have there on tourneys and gaming communities.

The main issue about this is that GATT is more oriented towards PC gamers, the console gamers won't have their chance till the summer vacation, and even then, it's a very limited scope, compared to what some of them should get.

For Name Of The Game, it had a good idea, but just poor planning and execution...

I am not a console person. That said, I still will enter a tourney even if it's for the first time that i'm playing the game...I don't care if I don't know the game completely for a fighting competition, I will still try, because I enjoy gaming on the whole, so even if I don't know the game, I still put out my all into it when I'm playing it.

Thus, I think that the analogy of the NBA to street basketball is a good indication of the lack of numbers in console gaming support in here....
Nagamete iru dake ja, itsumademo te ni dekinai...nagamete iru dake ja, kimi no mono ni wa naranai...

yes i feel the same i will join a game tourney if even if it's the first time i played the game, but it has to be a fighting, and as for showing other ppl moves/combos,
how u think they learned it.

I don't ask how u do that, I watch how he does, and i usually watch how he plays against another opponent, and most guys weakness is they tend to do the same move over and over.

and I disagree with that age limit cause i'm 19 an does have stiff competion from younger guys, and that's unfair for de younger guys.

there are a lot of gamers who are interested in fighting
and also fifa 2k4
so why only talk abt fifa2k4
dont make one game the mass attraction

make it like a SF tourney or just a whole console tourney

plus fifa2k4 is better on pc

One more thing-remember we trying to get gamers and consolers together and with the games we may offer-we NOT trying to put out a notice for a cheap sweat...thus attract the 'crowd'...

That's exactly what you'll get with a FIFA tourney.
I think the goal is to make people aware that console sweats startin up and so you want people who'll come back for all things.Sports games are THE most mainstream genre and most of them sports fanatics cyah do a damn thing in any other genre and don't care to play anything else.

If you're having fighting games BTW,I suggest you run it on PS2 at least if you're playing Tekken and SC2.PS2 controller is far more all round than XBox.Playing on an analog stick is like playing arcade with one finger, doesn't have the dexterity.

Console tournaments...this sounds good...the XBOX is a great system for large tournaments. HALO is a very good example of a good tournament game, 16 players can join in by linking 4 XBOXES. we could probably have a 4 a side...each team with there choice of names etc. And the good thing is...when u on 2 different TVs, ure opponents can't see ure screen and know where u are. I've played 8 player HALO already...IT ROCKS !!!
