This morning I just got the impulse to check out some cameras. My first idea was that one of those ordinary point and shoot ultra compact cameras will be the flick, then I discovered the SLR-Like category. What is SLR-Like? Its...well...like a DSLR w/o having the task of buying/carrying around different lenses for different shots. They are generally cheaper than full DSLR's and an excellent choice for people who are not hardcore photographers/filmmakers (like me) while having a beautiful balance advanced features to keep the inner techie in me (and you) very happy. (Read: plenty options, more than you know what to do with.) This particular unit also takes 720p video and the camera's 15x optical zoom is at your disposal while in video capture mode.
Oh, and did I mention that its
only $220
on Amazon? Talk about a nice unit tat wouldn't buss yuh pocket!
Check out
this review
people. I must say, this camera is definitely Cpt Awesome approved. (Thanks Arc, you KNOW I had to sting yuh catchphrase.)

My g/f's brother has that camera, i'll give it a hands on test, and let you know what i think of it
I had a fuji a while ago, then i got a Sony DSC-H2 (Ultra-zoom category) which is for sale atm, and my most recent investment is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28K. I can't ever see myself using those compact cameras, but i am fearful of the cost of dSLR Lenses.
what I will stress to any prospective buyer of cameras; DO research!! read reviews, and troll forums to see what the users have to say

That's quite OK Cap'n, you can take a borrow.
ROFLs and KEKs at this particular excerpt from a customer's review (on Amazon):
"
I could tell you about some good points about the camera, but it would be like me telling you everything wrong about your girl friend, but adding she cooks a great pot of chili
."
From that statement, its obvious that he didn't give this camera such a good rating. His review of the camera was rather lengthy, and very technical.
I say do a LOT of research before you buy.

even i was lookin for new cam, got the s1000fd dis week. reely wanted d s2000hd but d store didn't hav it. owell. its still a good cam. Havn't reely put it through its paces yet but seems 2 work well. quick start up an recycle time. big screen. 12x zoom, nice layout. seems alot better dan my Kodak Easyshare Z740 an definitey more powerful. i could imagin how powerful d s2000hd is.
