biostar sux for mobos.... get a gigabyte, asus or ATI mobo [ati mobos come wit an onboard RADEON, get alot of DDR for it and j00 running fassss ]

weyyyy i didnt know gettin a board an processor would be so much stress....ppl i jus want a normal integrated board wid a pentium 3 processor....itsfor an ole machine...to go online an do work an ting...not for gamin purposes...is this a good board for dat ?

an i have never used amd......is this board good....will it last....uall think it is a good buy for wha i want ??

an considerin wha i want it for...wha speed processor i should get if i takin this board ?

if you want you can throw an amd duron 1600 in it if you want a basic machine..oh amd amd all the way........ i believe in amd and the board is not bad at all so far i've see no problems with then

Don't waste time with the Pentium III unless you have the  chip.

If yo do have a Pentium III chip, this isn't the board you should be looking at, since this board is for AMD processors.

Not for a Pentium III chip.  What you might need to do is get the type of PIII chip it is and ask someone in a PC store if they have a motherboard for it.  Might not be that cheap, either.

AMD is for people who like saving money and getting speedy performance.
The board is a decent one.  Like I said, slowish compared to a Nforce 2, but Good Enough for most anything you would want to do.

Speed of processor does not matter.  With this board, any chip will be fast enough.  You're not gaming, after all.

if you want a cheap chip go with a duron maybe a 1600 or 1300 or you can just put out the little extra and go with an athlon 2000 or 2200

Gorgonmaster, I'll put in the plug for http://www.buytrinidad.com . The prices there seem representative of what is available.

The cheapest Duron goes for $300 or so (the price I quote is a bit on the high side) As a comparison, the Athlon XP 2400 (much faster and give you a bit more raw power - decent for gaming) will cost you about $800-$900.

A budget integrated motherboard goes for about $500 (an example is the Biostar you were looking at).    An Asus Nforce 2 mobo (niceness for gaming) will run you $1275 or thereabouts.

256 MB of DDR memory will run you about $325 - $400, depending on where you buy it.

I'm quoting on the low end because you said you aren't using the machine for gaming.

If you not using the pc for gaming then the biostar board is a good board for you. I believe we spoke about the M7VKQ which is a board that supports SDRAM.
